Hop Strike! is a dry-hopped Black Rye-IPA built from the ground up at Tommyknocker Brewery. This beer is characterized by an intermingling of spicy citrus hops and chocolate malt creating an interesting complexity and great first impression on the nose. Hop Strike’s substantial 95 IBUs are balanced by the chocolate rye resulting in a nice depth of malt character and deep color.
Appearance: Deep Brown/Black, light tan head
Malts: Idaho Pale Malt, European Crystal, Chocolate malt and Chocolate rye
Hops: Chinook, Newport, Glacier, Nugget and Summit
Dry-hopped with 40 pounds of hops, 16 deg. Plato, 78 IBUs, 45 SRM, 7% ABV

Yes sir! This is right up my alley. Very well balanced and the perfect bitter finish. Open it and it smells like an IPA . Malty like a solid porter and a solid bitter kick. One of my local favorites, but not quite as good as Bear republic Hop Rod Rye

355ml bottle. Near black, thin brown head. Citrusy, roasty, coffee, nutty aroma. Flavor has citrus, roasted malt, tobacco, salty notes. Dry finish with cocoa. Tasty black IPA, balanced.

Interesting rye black ipa. Cola color pour. Rye spice and dark roasted malts in the nose. Taste has a coffee presence, but an unexpected bitter kick at the end. Rye wasn't too obvious.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium frothy beige head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a strong bready malt, raisin, caramel, and pine. Nice bitter hop bite, caramel malt, and nice light bitterness. Very good.

Kind of a bland pour but has an enticing coffee aroma. The taste is very cofee like w/ some hop kick at the end. Tasty!

Lacks the bitter taste I expected for a 95 IBU, but this is a pretty good beer. Worth a buy for sure.

Big roast flavor but lighter than aroma suggests. Pours Coca-Cola brown with light head. Lacing after every sip. Great friendly flavor. Would order again. ---all in good suds.

12 oz bottle, Kroger Bridge St. Clear, dark red-brown, smaller almost-fizzy head. Aroma predominantly roast and chocolate, backed by coffee, and some floral fruitiness. Flavor is pretty one-dimensional--mostly roast. Not impressed with this, along with most of Tommyknocker’s other stuff.
