Copper colored pour with a small off-white head. Nose is caramel, maple syrup, and bread. Some oak, chocolate, a bit of vanilla, toast, and a hint of smoke. The flavor is fairly sweet and malty. Caramel, maple, chocolate, and toast. Light vanilla, charred oak, dark fruit, and some smoke.

I’m new to beer but I love love love this one! Seems brown ales are my thing. I can’t speak super intelligently about this yet since I’m a newbie, but if you love Dogfish Head Palo Santo, you’ll love this too. (Thank you for listening to my newbie opinion.)

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy chestnut with ruby edges and minimal tan head. Nose is like liquid bacon mixed with charred oak, hops, and cacao. Tastes malty, smoky, with big notes of bacon, cacao, rye. Smooth but the flavor was a bit odd at first. Hell, I even tasted the SALT from the bacon in this. Finished complex, salty, and I dare say it grew on me. A technical mess, this beer could be used as a soak for french toast, and would sell a million orders. Or use this for steaks, pot roast, chili, or French onion soup.

Pours ruby brown with no head. Aroma of toasted malt, dark fruit, and chocolate. Very sweet flavor with cherry, molasses, alcohol, and some chocolate. A bit over the top.

Pretty plain ale smell. Standard ale taste with slight mineral and a bit of nut character.

Small sample at bocktown and that’s all I needed. Strong ale indeed. Fading head. Darker yellah, maybe orange or mahogany, I guess, but I think not that dark. Slight volatile aroma. Stronger initial blast in the personality. Alky, warm on the palate. Slight medicinal palette, yeah, its american alright, some manners but not many.

Bottle. Nutty aroma with notes of caramel and a bit of chocolate as well as some oak. Pours dark brown tinged with ruby color with a thin tan head and no lacing. Rich, sweet caramel and chocolate malt to start. Finishes smooth with a nice nutty flavor as well as a bit of oak. Good stuff.

On tap at Twisted Jimmys. Light sweet malty aroma with hints of oak and cherry skins. Mild caramel, cocoa, soap. Dark ruby brown clear with thin head. Medium-heavy body with medium-light carbonation. Starts sweet with alcohol, cherry, tannins, and salty quality. Light cocoa finish and back of my tongue feels like I just finished a cherry Sucrets lozenge. Not much oak presence.

Pours mahogany into a Trappist glass. Vanilla head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Caramel aromas. Thick and sweet with vanilla and caramel front to back. Warm lasting toffee and bourbon finish.

Pours hazy chestnut brown with a small, thin tan head that was gone quickly. Aroma of nutty malt with a notable woody note. Full body, just a touch syrupy, with a light astringency in the finish. Nutty malt flavor with a woody note, as well as some cocoa at the back.

A nice barrel aged beer. Forgot what oak aged (without bourbon etc) beers tasted like. Nice strong woody aroma with nut, toffee and caramel. A little weak but decent. Pour was a nice dark brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was a nice mix of caramel malt, toffee and oak. Almost tastes like my mouth may have splinters in it it’s so woody. Mild carbonation. Hides alochol dangerously well. Good beer
