COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Tap in CO on 1/10/13. Pour is amber/brown. Aroma of toffee, malt, and hints of coffee. Taste is sweet. Mouthfeel is thin. Disappointment served on tap.

Bottle from Casanova. Another ho-hum beer from a very mediocre brewer. Artificially sweet nose. Some nut. Whatever.

Bottle. I’m fond of most Browns but this one was drinkable but not very enjoyable and very forgettable. We received within a sampler pack and it’s possible we had a bad batch of this particular one as it seemed noticably oxidized and horribly stale. Had the carbonation not been as noticable I would have thought the bottle had a leak letting it become contaminated..

A: Very average looking. I guess it’s nicely the color of maple syrup, reflecting its name and flavor profile, but it’s not extremely inviting-looking. Not much head and what little there was disappeared quickly, leaving minimal lacing, and was creamy off-white. Reddish amber in color. S: Not much--a little maple, a little toffee, some malt. T: Taste is where it’s at with this beer--which is what matters most in the end, right? Overwhelming toffee, a hint of hazlenut coffee au lait, butteriness, carmel maltiness, absolutely no bitterness. Some pecan. Its name describes it perfectly--they put nut in there for good measure :) Pleased with the taste. M: Pretty thin, watery. O: The taste redeems it to a certain degree but a good beer has more than one element. The mouthfeel almost messes up the taste because if how thin it is. If they could just beer this thing up from 4.5% and add a little oomph to the body, do something for the aroma, this thing would be awesome.

Draft at beer fest. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. The aroma Is nutty and mildly sweet. The taste is nutty and sweet like a typical brown

12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear dark amber brown with a large (2-3 finger) light brown rocky head that steadily diminished down to a thin film and large collar, which produced good sticky lacing. The aroma was kind of faint of a toasted chocolate malt and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of caramel and maple syrup. The taste was lightly sweet and a little malty with a mild caramel sweetness and a hint of chocolate early on, finishing mildly roasty with a slightly pronounced maple syrup presence towards the end. The flavor was short lived with the sweet roastiness fading quickly from the taste buds. Mouthfeel was a few steps above light in body and watery in texture with a mild carbonation. Overall I found this brew to be a bit light for a Brown Ale, although it did posses a good roasty taste and smooth drinkability, which makes it a perfect candidate for a session beer…

Very good and a beautiful burnt red color. I had to try not to slam it. The maple syrup and spices blended perfectly for my palate. If I see this in a regular 6 pack on sale, I’ll buy it.

From a bottle, very thin body with a very interesting maple taste to this american brown style, As much as I want to like this beer I find it mediocre.

Way too sweet. Somehow this is both flavorless and too sweet at the same time. Definitely not buying again! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Some real good bite to this. Lots of chocolate and malt. Good smell but not overpowering. I feel like more alcohol would make this a charmer
