COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

This beer seemed to have an identity crisis. It’s called a nut brown ale, but leans closer to an amber ale. Body was mostly a dark amber-red hue with a tan head that had mild retention. Aroma was mostly caramel malts but there was some roasted malts to it. A good hint of sweetness from the maple syrup. Flavor was nice and balanced, some nice malts and a nice sweetness from the maple syrup. There was no real hop note to it, which was disappointing because it seemed to be a two-dimensional beer. Finish was smooth and it was easy to drink.

(Keg at Tommyknocker, Helsinki, 20150523) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramel, sweetness, burnt sugar and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, molten sugar, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A too sweet and still harsh brew.

Tap @ Tommyknocker Craft Beer Bar, Helsinki. Pours a reddish brown with a decent, brownish head. Aroma is caramel, light roast, light flower, light nuts. Taste is caramel, light flower, some nuts, breadiness. Too light with low carbonation, tad watery.

Poured from bottle. Pours a clear, thin looking, pale brown with a creamy 1 finger head. Aroma is fairly mild, some mild caramel and maple notes. Taste is a touch of weak coffee, milk chocolate, slightly burned extract, and maybe a touch of maple. There is also a slightly off sweet/tang flavor. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Not bad, but not memorable either.

Draught at Tommyknocker. Dark brown color, beige head. Bitter taste with nuts, roasted malts, toffee and bread. Bitter finish with nuts, toffee and roasted malts. Decent brown ale, although utterly uninteresting.

Tap@tkcbb. Brown, light haze. Nutty slight doughy nose. Malty. Lightish bodied, clean clear. Nutty huskey malty, some herbs. Dry finish. A bit bland, soft sweet brown ale.

First tastes of banana and sweet malts, caramel, roasty, toffy. Taste bitterness feels like 18-20. Very sweet malty beer
