This is a pretty standard amber-style lager. There’s nothing really oustanding about it. It had a nice light amber color, but had a thin off-white head. The head left a little lacing around the glass. The aroma was a little malty with some flowery notes. The flavors were quite mild, but smooth. Some of the notes included a bit of hops, bread and grains. The finish was a little dry and flavorful, with additional notes of hops and malt. Overall, this was a very decent amber lager, but nothing too outstanding.

Disappointing. I’ve yet to have a really good Tommyknocker beer, or one that offers hop, roasty, fruity, or anything other than than malty. And this beer is no exception...mildly malty in both aroma and flavor, but virtually nothing else here. Mouthfeel is not worthy of comment, for better or for worse. There are so many other beers of similar styles that are so much better...is this a dark lager? Than do yourself a favor and try a Furthermore Oscura or Sprecher Black. Is this an amber ale? Than try a McTarnahan’s. Either way, you’ll be much happier than if you drink this beer. I would not recommend this beer. I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in Idaho Springs.

Bottle: Malty and fruity aroma. Dark transparent amber with a pretty insignificant white head that is all but gone in a few seconds. Lightly malty up front with a watered down lightly hopped citrus and peach finish. This is really thin. One of the thinnest beers I’ve had. Another beer that if the flavors were intensified, it would be decent. Just too thin and watered down

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a hazy copper body topped by a small head of foam which diminished quickly and fully. Aroma is a light balance of malts and hops with not much else. It isn’t bad, but it doesn’t astound. Very watery mouthfeel with barely any carbonation made slightly sweet by the malts. The palate is fairly well balanced with some caramel notes, though fairly undistinguished. I don’t think this is a bad beer at all, though I have had other beers from this brewery that impressed me more.

Taster at the pub - it’s clear orange amber with thin off white head. It’s nice citrusy hop aroma with biscuity backbone. The flavor has nice toasty bitterness blending well with esthery hops. This one is better from the source.

Pours burnt orange with small light tan head. Aroma is pretty much indistinguishable, a little sweet malt and biscuit. Flavor is much the same. If only they spent as much time improving their beer as they do on naming, describing and creating labels for them.
