The Ornery Amber poured a red-orange-copper color with a fizzy head that quickly dissipated to only a collar. Has a subtle malty nose with hints of caramel. It has a pretty mild taste to it - some maltiness with a slight metallic aftertaste. There is no hop taste to speak of here. As it warmed up, I noticed more caramel flavor and maybe some subtle fruitiness. It's a pretty smooth, drinkable beer. Overall, not a bad beer but nothing to write home about.

Great red body, with a light white head. Hops and malts are very evident in the aroma and yet itís very subtle in itís quality. Good dark fruits in the taste, cherryís and raisins. Very smooth ending.

Golden amber glow with a small cap of dusty tanned, firm foam. Fluffy lacing in sporatic sheeting leaving some inky strings along the way.
Aroma is malt tilted with a bready warmth and slight toastyness. Small hints to some woodish hops and a tender little sweet underlay of dull apple.
Flavors are mirrored from the smell as it stands mostly frontward with some malt tones that are fairly mild and tender. Slightly toasted and sweet, getting more sweet as it flows towards the finish. Has a dull apple-y flavor under some skimpy wood hop notes. Its not all that complex, but has a decent malt base that keeps it interesting.
Feel is fairly bold, clean, and well-rounded within a medium body. Again, the malts are whatís making this amber worth anything and its not bad. I suppose a bit more hoppyness could help add some complexity and balance. Otherwise this is a fairly easy going amber thats easy enought to have a couple more of before boredom may set in.

A hazy-looking beer with a slight hoppy aroma. The taste is more of a spicy malt flavor. It is a nice blend for easy drinking.

Dark copper orange with a thin off white foam. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt and bread. Taste is caramels, apples, very sweet and fruity. Not sure why this isnít listed as an Amber Ale...

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2011 Decent maltiness without being too sweet and a hint of tea. Rather cloudy for a lager, which might be why its a hard beer to categorize. Good, but not great.

Pours a dull cloudy amber with a creamy medium head. Light malt aroma with a slightly hop-spiced malt taste. Good carbonation and body on the palate, slightly sour and spicy aftertaste.

Malty, refreshing, crisp, with a touch of citrus? This was a delightful surprise at my local Western. Yum. I look forward to the rest of the Mother Lode sampler pack.
