Bottle: Pasteurised.
A rich red premium cask ale produced using pale ale, crystal and wheat malt. A full fruity/citrus hop flavour of willamette and fuggle with the light aroma of goldings.

Bottle and served in pint glass: Clean rich golden hue with a nice foamy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of grassy and herbal hops, dry and heathery esters, lots of pale Maris Otter malt, and some apple fruit esters. The taste is a straight forward mix of mild bitters and mild malt that is easy going and session worthy. A moderate fruity twang perks up the profile. Nothing that requires much thought and finished short and fleeing on the palate. Okay stuff and I would like to try on cask.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2007 Bottle (500ml). Shared with LagerLoather, his bottle. Clear amber, looks a little like weak tea average creamy-foamy beige head. Light aroma, iced tea and light floral hops, quite fresh and very malty. Taste - simple, refreshing, not too demanding - like iced tea with a touch of lemon, tannic on the back of the tongue, light herbal hops in the malty finish. The body is just right - malty but light, medium astringency, light and quick finish - very nice, sessionable - will look for this on tap in England (cask, anyone?)

Initially the aroma at the top of the bottle was that of crisp pickled cucumbers, then it turned very yeasty. From the glass it’s powdery. Medium red-brown, slightly off-white creamy head, fair label. Very good bitter - vanilla notes over tannic ale. LIght cigarette smokiness, sometimes seems dry sometimes seems sweet, toasted sugars. Medium light body, woody shortbread cookie finish that moves on to a bit of grapefruit rind bitterness. A nice pint.

500mL, no date. Pours a clear pale copper orange with a 1/2 finger light beige head that fades to a ring. Aroma of toffee, light nuts, sweet malts, and some type of fruitiness. Light nuts and toffee continue with the unnamed fruitiness and a biscuity sweet malt finish. There was also a hint of paper. Low carbonation with a light to medium body. Pretty decent.

This pours a bright copper body with a frothy ecru head. It’s got a light malty aroma topped with garden flowers, pink grapefruit, and grasses. The flavor is toffee, some caramel, berries, and a balancing grassy/floral/earthy bitterness. The finish is dry and mildly bitter. Decent.

From a bottle that was a new arrival at John’s in Iowa City. The body is dark bronze and orange with a frothy khaki head on top. The aroma is marigold flowers along with some oranges. There is also a hint of caramel. The taste is slight toffee and medium strength tea. There is also a hint of Ruby Red grapefruit. The body si smooth. This is a nice ESB. I am afraid that this will not keep on the shelves.

Bottled. A ruby coloured beer with an off-white coloured head. The aroma is fruity with some toffee notes. The taste is also fruity and malty. More toffee apparent. Smooth and tasty.

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, big fluffy off-white head, slowly diminishing; stronger aromatic-bitter nose, ripe black-berries in the background and a tinge of molasses; robust, quite dry bitter flavour; short fruity, dry-bitter finish. A pleasant brew !

Bottled. Amber color, decent off-white head, lace. Toasted malts and fruit cake in the aroma. Sharp, metalic mouthfeel. Malty with dark fruits, hints of licorice. Just a bit too low ABV to make this really good ESB. Slighty earthy flavors too found.
