3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2009-10-11. Lightly hazy amber body, beige head. Mild aroma, lightly caramel kissed toasty malt. 6+ Flavour is similar, sweet malt base, dry toasty malt accents, caramel notes. Average plus palate is a touch flat. Likely a pleasant cask candidate. Pleasant, simple, decent session brew. Bottle from the UK c/o Mabelís brother.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a semi hazy amber brown with a very small white head. Medium sweet aroma with pears, light caramel and nutty. Flavor is very nutty (from the Maris Otter I am sure), malty sweet and a very light earthiness. Low carbonation, light bodied. One of the Best Bitters I have had out of a bottle.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle - Poured murky brownish yellow color with thick foaming head that quickly faded.
Aroma - caramel apples and sweet pears.
Flavor - tasted like the aroma... apples, pears and some sweet caramel malt.
Palate - Light/medium bodied with average carbonation. Goes down easy and finish is somewhat bitter.
Overall - I am actually surprised by this beer. Paid $1 for this beer and liked it. Its nothing that great but easy to drink and very cheap!!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 1 pt. 0.9 fl. oz. bottle marked L8009-13:33. It pours amber-red and a tad cloudier than I would expect with a short-lasting, thin head. Overall the aroma is sweeter with a floral hop background and something akin to apples or pears. It is a full-bodied texture that has a dose of sweet malts and warm bitterness to it. This is my favorite beer style and this one passes the test.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Finally Welsh Beer here in the States - I wonder if itís because of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival?!? Deep dark brown amber tinted colour with some haziness and a thinnish tan head - nice! Aroma of bitter nuts, apples, malt, yeast and a light bit of hops. Med-bodied; Mild malty flavour with some apple tastes tucked in with a little yeast and caramel and some mild figs too. Aftertaste shows some bitterness, but relatively mild along with the taste. Overall, a fairly typical bitter, with perhaps a bit more carbonation, more apple tastes and some mild nuts - decent, but Iím happier to have my first beer from Swansea! I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 25-July-2009, sampled four days later at home here.
