Heathen (521), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 7, 2008 THOUGHTS: Nice beer, but very middle of the road in every category. Good in every category, but not very strong in flavor or aroma. Not very memorable. Nothing string, but very well balanced.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium orange with nice carbonation and an average to large, slightly off-white head that mostly lasted. The aroma was light toasted and caramel malt, light hops, light earthy yeast and a little lemon. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was lightly sweet, moderately acidic, light to moderately bitter and a little sour with an average. duration. There was light caramel malt, some toastiness and then it started to taste like tea with lemon then a little bitter hops popped up in the finish. The medium body was sort of watery with fizzy carbonation and a metallic finish.

Amber color with a decent beige head. Very "light stone fruit" aroma over slightly roasted caramel. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is rather malty with a fair amount of fruitiness. Finish tends to end bitter. Fits ESB style, though perhaps the malt is a bit rougher than usual. MiP (6017), Flensburg, Germany Sep 8, 2008 Cask at GBBF08. Good fruity aroma. Clear amber colour. The flavour is nicely malty with a hint of caraway seed. OK malty finish, not so bitter. SaintMatty (515), Tallinn, Estonia Sep 5, 2008 Cask (Cayo Arms,Cardiff) - Amber in colour. Lightly fruity aroma with biscuity malt notes. Lightly fruity taste with moderate bitterness. Not bad but could be better.
