A copper coloured beer with the aroma of honey. It has a full and smooth flavour and a soft, flowing aftertaste.

An authentic abbey ale
The age-old tradition of the White Canons of Tongerlo lives on in this officially recognised Belgian abbey ale.

Re-fermented in the bottle
Re-fermentation in the bottle gives the beer a more intense taste and aroma as well as a longer shelf life.

Bottle. Sour and fruity with a balsamic vinegar flavour. Rather like a Flemish Red. Tasty.

On tap in Ieper. Cloudy blonde with solid white head. Sweet yeasty aroma. Flavor is sweet and fruit. Finishes clean a dry. Not too interesting, but makes a good session,

Citrus, malt and yeast aromas, amber, pours a large off-white head, some lace. Taste is malt, some bread, pear and grapefruit. Light bodied, mild tongue tingle. Good.

Bottle shared with jerc at Smokeless Joe. Hazy light gold with a small white head. Nice nose - sweet malt, yeast and a bit of apricot. Flavour is pleasant, but simple - some light fruit notes, mild yeast, and a very short, dry finish.

On tap at the ’t Brugs Beertje in Brugge on 12-07-10 (3,00 euro). Dark, clear amber color with a lacy white head. Full bodied, nothing too stand out. Kind of reminds me of Leffe.

6 Perfumey, slightly plasticky aroma. Leffe-like.
3 Pale gold, large persistent head.
6 Simple maltsy body, perfumey again, a touch dead.
4 Weet, but not sticky. Perfumey and slightly biting bitter finish.
12+ Adequate belgian. Nice but not great.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before Nov 2007, drank March 2007. Poured into a Straffe Hendrik bowl glass, without any sediment leaving the bottle, the head suffered because of my slow pour, but it still produced a nice foaming white/off white crown on the beer. the body was an orange, tangarine colour, slight haze which made it look cloudy. Aroma of yeasts and citrus fruits, mostly lemon or maybe limes. The label claims it has a honey aroma, I couldn’t detect it until I read it was there. Sourness at first, fizzy too, the yeast aroma carries on into the taste, no honey flavour! The label also mentions maize as an ingrediant, this may well appear in the mouthfeel, aftertaste, which is fairly weak really. Not the best blonde I’ve had, but I would have another of these, I won’t hunt for one, but drink another, I would.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Mitra. Bottle says 6,5% but I’m pretty sure this is the same beer, maybe a new recipe. Hazy amber/yellow with a dense white head. Yeasty fruity aroma with some malts. Taste is semi-sweet with some metallic notes. Short bitter aftertaste. Lively carbonation. Nice beer

On tap at Fay Boy’s Sports Bar and Grill, Brussels. Aroma very Leffe like. Taste is bittersweet sugar water. So so.

Heldere goudgele kleur met veel en vol schuim. Typische Belgische geur, zoetig. Smaakt prima. Iets kruiden, mout en citrus met een iets bittere nasmaak.
