3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown with a big beige head that laces well. Aroma is really nice, malty and yeasty with notes of apples, peaches, molasses and spices like nutmeg. Taste is sweet-ish, mild intensity, with some blurred Christmas spices. Good but the Aroma promised more than what the Taste delivers. Maybe it’s not round enough or you feel too much water in it. Medium body, a little bit overcarbonated maybe, alcohol has a tiny presence here and there. Some nutty aftertaste. Decent Dubbel, far from my favorite though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Typical Double with nice frothy head. A: typical Double, with copper, faint chocolate notes, relatively fruity (dark fruits), cherry lacing. T: strong metal taste, followed by a taste of whole grain bread. Some prunes, syrup. Development is mildly fruity, rose hip notes. Medium bodied. Aftertaste is slightly peppery, carrot notes. Similar to the other Tongerloos, this one is not that exciting, but it is a solid version of the style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle from Fusion supermarket in HK. Looks great, nice aroma of coffee, chocolate, pepper. But taste is a bit dull after initial burst of soft malt. Nice but not outstanding.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Drank with Dave while watching Utopia 24-4-2015. Bought this beer because it was recommended by Thierry. I liked it. It has a sweet malty taste, raisins, the taste is more pleasant and richer than most standard double beers. It is like a weak, thinner and less compelling version of pannepot reserva.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle bought at TASTE in Olympian City, Tai Kok Tsui.
Deep amber brown colour with a thin film of dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head and crumpety near beige foam which lasts for 2 minutes;
Excellent sticky lacing with active carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of dark malt, with quite strong banana, vanilla, caramel, cream, chocolate, sugar, strong Bel yeast, lemon and very light grass; Medium to light sweet taste of dark malt, with good roasted nuts, caramel, light toast, molasses notes, light chocolates, spices, faint hint of dark fruits, Bel yeast, lime, moderate bitter hops and grass; Medium body. Quite thick and creamy palate; Mouth Feel is good dark malt in a thick smooth body, much like the its Blond. Strong and fairly tasty roasted peanuts mixed with constrained low sweetness and shaves of chocolates. Caramel and spice aside, not much fruity ester. Bel yeast is fair at best. Okay… Hoppiness is light lemon and light grass in nose but much more expressive in taste. Bitterness is quite notable for an abrupt, moderate astringent finish; Slightly dry after taste. Roasty and fairly hoppy to mouth.
Comments: This is one of those typical Dubbels in which the fairly nice sweet aroma seems to promise a lot but the rather basic taste give the game away. This one though, at least it has a rich and creamy body and good roast malts to compensate the otherwise safe but unspectacular palate. Better than most thin and flat macro Dubbels but still nothing special.
