3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (6114) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2007
De markt, nieuwport, 02/01/07. Deep ruddy brown witha thin layer of tan suds. A touch of Rodenbach-like sourness in the nose. Sharply yeasty and metallic, with a creamy hint of roast. A little bit Ename Dubbel, but less body. The blurb says coffee, but it’s not that roasty. Ok, but the accompanying block of Tongerlo cheese is far better.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - DEC 6, 2006
This pours a deep chestnut body with a large tan head. Good lacing. The aroma is a lightly roasted malt with old caramel, powdered cocoa, dried fruit, and soapy yeast. Pretty light bodied. The malts are slightly burned in the flavor and an element of rust is added. The fruit in the nose becomes old grape and cherry skins. The caramel has aged and is a bit dusty. Surprizingly, a dry finish. Interesting.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 14, 2006
Eternal off-white foam covers the cloudy, brown/garnet body in which sediments abound. Kinda perfumey, nutty nose where the yeast brings out figs, ripe bananas and white grapes. Dried cocoa suggestions bring a counterpoint to the sweetness. Well bodied, it holds a certain creaminess all through while delicate earthiness and soft carbonation make it seem beefier than it is. Finishes kinda rooty and drying out. Slightly herbal in its aromas, a mild hop touch that works well in balancing its rather straightforward caramel foundations. Good, I liked that more than I anticipated, the malt is well extracted and the yeast does not wander around too much.

Bottled at MacAle, Randers. A bit unclear, reddish-brown beer with a lively carbonation and a beige head. Quite weak aroma with dried fruits, sweetness, caramel and some spice and fruit. The flavor has dried fruits, sugar and spices. Medium to full body and a sweet, lightly hopped finish. Nice, even though both flavor and aroma is quite vague. (061007)

Bottle, Franklins bar/cafe near central station, Antwerp. Dark brown coloured bee, with large frothy slightly brownish coloured head. Aroma was predominantly of maltiness and some yeast, tasted quite spicey, malty and also some dried fruits, little bit sweet, not too bad at all.
