really nice on tap at the pub, but depends which pub as motelpogo said. Quite bitter, a tad chocolaty, bit nutty, and bit fruity, none of these flavours are really pronounced though. An old dudes drink.

Porter style Australian dark..Thin texture, huge flavours,burnt toffee, mollasses, bitter java and old leather. Used gearbox oil with silky aloe vera at 4.4%, not for the faint-hearted. Best Tooheys and one of the top 10 reasons to live in the big smoke (Sydney).
Black is beautiful.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2004 bout time i updated my rating and abandoned my sentimental attachment to this watery, thin and flavourless heap of crap. zero aroma, head fizzles, no fruitiness, very faint caramel/coffee flavours, classic aussie industrial cardboard malt finish. sad and limp. but a lot better than toheys new!

Once tried most others pale in comparison. Lovely black ale that can be enjoyed by beer lovers around the world. best thing that Tooheys have put out though.
