3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A great IPA. Picked this up at the Dell in Omaha about a week after its introduction to NE. Golden, intense citrus aroma. Lots of bitterness, but with a balanced sweet body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks Kyle. Pours a soft and golden light amber with one finger of short lived head. Nose is nice and citrusy with some pine resin and a light malty sweetness. Light woody notes. Dry and moderately to forwardly bitter. Woody hops with upfront citrus rind and pine resin. A little bit of a persistent bite to the finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Resin biscuit. Those were the two words that came to mind when I smelled 1492. No, not "resin, biscuit" or "resin and biscuit." Resin biscuit. A singular thing. Like someone baked pine resin into fresh bread. (Hmm, baking with green stuff. I had some college friends who engaged in those types of culinary experiments.) The balance between malt and hops really is lovely in 1492. It definitely leans toward the herbs, but it’s a well-rounded approach. This is a crisp IPA with more complexity than you often get with a single-hop brew. Toppling Goliath sure knows how to handle hops and create awesome bottle artwork.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cracked with Remy and Joe on Halloween. Pours a brownish gold with ligjt white head. Light lacing. For being all columbus this is surprisingly good. Excellent malt bill with fresh bitterness from the ample hops. Lots of florals and overripe pineapple especially in the nose. Like old Avery dugana.

12 ounce bottle thanks to David. Lightly malty with some aromatic and floral notes. The Columbus hops come through.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle purchased at the Hy Vee near Drake in Des Moines, Iowa. 26 AUG 15 stamped on the bottle neck. The pour is a mostly clear golden yellow copper with a well formed 1 inch white head. Head is lasting, falls with nice lace. The aroma is fresh citrus hop, resin mineral and some cracker malt. The taste is clean hop flavors of the fresh citrus, resin dank, decent balance with the cracker malt. Mineral appears in the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation and the mineral softly bitter finish. Solid IPA.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a bottle brewed in Florida. Aroma is musty and grass. Good white head initially but quickly turns thin with little lacing. Hazy and murky copper color. Bitterness has very dry finish that definitely has that earthy quality typical with Columbus. Its a good beer and easy to drink, just needs to be a bit more dynamic showcasing the hops. The clarity issue is a bit much for this style.
