Bottle 65 cl. Vintage 2013. Pours an almost syrupy thick, pitch black with a small, brown head. Sweet rich, vanillaish roast in the nose with lovely Bourbon accents. Extremely rich body, syrupy almost, sweet vanilla roast and again heavy, yet mellow Bourbon notes. Warming alcohol finish. A lovely HUGE Imperial Stout. 081114

2014 vintage. Pours jet black, like spent motor oil. Slowly, a brown head bubbles up and dissipates quickly into a ring around the glass. Very viscous beer! Legs for days and days. Aromas is very boozy. Lots of wet oak and bourbon upfront...with hints of chocolate, molasses and coffee creeping in. Taste is another story. Damn. Lots of milk chocolate upfront, creamy vanilla notes....coffee and some more coffee...what a harmony! These TG stouts have some signature sweetness that threads them all together. Maybe hints of maple syrup that permeate throughout? A medium-heavy mouthfeel that never becomes too much with the light carbonation...and just the right amount of sugars in this to cut the booze down. Finishes with a gentle warming bourbon touch....not as heavy as the nose suggested, but prominent. A fantastic imperial stout that puts TG in a class by itself.

2014 bottle, gigantic thanks to my man Sam for bringing this all the way from Chicago!!!! Perhaps the most dense, viscous pour I’ve ever seen in my life; almost chocolate syrup in quality, with a small bubbly head around the edge of the glass. The nose and flavor were quite simply intoxicating; soft dark chocolate bitterness and heavily roasted coffee gave way provided the background. Up front was enormous sweet chocolate ganache, mocha and sweet milk chocolate, vanilla, marzipan, nougat, and hints of marshmallow. While rich, the palate wasn’t overbearing, and this drank marvelously. An outstanding product, reminiscent of Bourbon County Coffee but better. Glorious stuff.

Lucky enough to buy a bottle at the release(2014), poured into a snifter. Motor oil black and beer is about as thick. Tiny head with complex aromas rising. Bourbon is predominant with some vanilla, chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is more complex than anything I have ever experienced. Sweetness at the beginning with some coffee and chocolate in the middle, followed by the bourbon booze. I also get this umami thing going no with some notes of soy sauce. My palate was not as refined when I tried it, so I didn’t enjoy it that much. That being said, I can definitely appreciate the beer for what it is.

Opaque black, moderate beige head. Caramel, vanilla, chocolate, a little coffee, and hints of bourbon barrel. Bittersweet with a long bitter finish. Creamy and smooth, a bit slick, full bodied, and viscous. Mild to moderate booziness.

Bottle shared by kermis @ Borefts 2014. Pours this thick, picht black liquid with a small, brownish head on top. Aroma is perfect, full, complex smells of licorice, laurel, vanilla, caramel, oak, molasses. Basically every aroma you want in an imperial stout is present, all balanced to perfection. I simply couldn’t stop sniffing this stuff. Flavor is very sweet with again all the characteristics of an imperial stout, but then exactly the way it’s supposed to be. Thick mouthfeel, alcohol is present in the flavor but gives no burning sensation. Flavor is complex with woody influences, dark overripe fruits, vanilla, molasses. The barrel treatment is noticeable. Incredibly good stuff, certainly deserves it’s high rating. This is liquid sex in a glass...

Sampled at GABF 2014. Black pour with a thin brown head. Incredible aroma of German chocolate cake, vanilla, oak, and bourbon. Taste of chocolate, coffee, booze, and vanilla. Warm finish. Somehow my Iowa rating is the last of the U.S. states but it was well worth the wait. A perfect 5!!

On draft at GABF 2014. Pours a deep stout brown with a tan head. Nose is big boozy bourbon, chocolate syrup, vanilla, roast, and some sweetness. Flavor is similar with big bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, sweetness, oak, and booze. Huge flavor and boozy oakiness. Medium and syrupy in body with lingering boozy chocolatey bourbon.
