Our Naughty 90 Oaked IPA was inspired by ocean bound, oak barreled brews of the 1800’s. Packed with hops on a 90-minute schedule, uniquely malted, then aged on a bed of oak, this IPA delivers a taste that is both innovative and timeless.

Bottle from Joe. Thanks buddy. Pours dark amber cited with a half finger khaki head. Aroma of bready malts, herbal tea, chocolate, hay, oak, but no hop presence here really. The flavor is a big malty malt bomb, some chocolate mixed in there, herbal tea notes, dry finish with a little bitterness but not the IPA hop type of bitterness, oak, a bit of caramel. Rich body, dry finish, medium carbonation. Anything but an IPA really, but not a sweet malty mess either. Sort of a very dry barleywine (not quite the hop presence for an American style barleywine , and a good bit of chocolate like a brown ale). Maybe we can call this a session winter warmer! Pretty good, but definitely not the expected flavors here.

Bottle thanks to Minh. Pours a cloudy amber with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong nutty malt and oak. Medium mouthfeel with strong bready malt, oak, caramel, resin hop coming thru in the finish. Good.

22 oz bottle purchased from Toppling Goliath. Pours a clear dark caramel brown with light passing as a reddish orange hue. Aroma is roasted malt, grain, overall an aroma reminiscent of English brown ales. There is very little to no hop character in the aroma at all. Flavor is about the same - a sweet, oaked mild brown ale character of malt, grainy notes, and virtually no hop presence. Thin to medium bodied, soft to moderate carbonation, and a grainy yet lightly citrusy finish with a certain note of light oxidation. Not a bad beer, but drinks more like a brown ale than an IPA.

Muddy brownish amber. Fair off-white head. Great mild roastiness, complex and really pleasant. Semi-sweet. Medium body. Super smooth. Mild smokiness. Very easy drinking. Unique. Awesome. Enjoyed my company and the beer more than my notes..

Draft pour at the source. Pours a hazy orange with a white head of foam. The aroma has toffee, orange, bread, cake. The taste is mildly bitter. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Tap. Pours cloudy amber, small of white head, good lacing. Aroma is caramel, oak, tannins, brown sugar, a bit of pine. Flavor follows, medium sweet, light bitter, lots of malt sugars, vanilla, oak, bitterness without much hop flavors. Woody. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Interesting, but not an IPA.

Échantillonné du Extreme beer fest 2014: Première surprise du festival. Des notes de noix grillées, d’agrumes, galette de sarrasin, caramel dans une ipa qui me donne une impression de faire un retour dans le temps.
