Intense grain and bread malts, dark, toasted malts, biscuit, wood, oak actually. Hazy, dark gold, small, creamy, off-white head. Light sweet. Intense bread and caramel malts, wood, cocoa nibs, toasted malts, soft carbonation, full bodied. Very interesting beer, but oak barrels and IPA kills the IPA for me, nice though. Keg at brewery taproom, Decorah, IA.

32 oz. growler. Clear amber body. Thin collar. Smell is all oak. Fresh oak and some coffee notes. Nutty malts with toffee. Very little by way of hops. Taste has a lot of caramel and toffee up front. Oak immediately takes over. Coffee again behind it. A little bit of oaky char and some mild hop bitterness. Lingering oak. Medium heavy. Definitely not what I expected. Bigger than a traditional English IPA, but the flavors are all there.

Bottle. Strong fresh oak/pine, toffee malt, and orange peel aroma. Hazy dark amber with small head. Moderately sweet orange toffee malt, light astringent dry oak, and moderately bitter orange peel/pine flavor. Nice body and balance. Very good - unique, unlike any other IPA Iíve had. Oak definitely dominates the character of this beer.

Aroma of oak, coffee, some pine. Reddish brown cloudy, little to no head. Taste is oak, sweet caramel, pine, fruit, orange. Medium mouth feel. Kind of an odd duck yet interesting. Unique. Not a typical IPA.

650ml bottle from Casanova in Hudson. Pours an orangey brown with no head. Aroma has toasty malts, nuts, tangy fruits, oak, and sweet fruits. Taste is of nuts, stone fruits, oak and toasty cereal. Medium to full bodied with some alcohol presence. Finishes oaky, nutty sweet. Oaky. Toasty. Much more sweet than bitter. Not enough of my thing. 13.4

Bottle from Casanova, Hudson. Deep chestnut reddish pour with a modest off-white head. Strong woody oak nose. Interesting malt character. Some red berry and light cocoa. Root beer and a bit of lemon peel. Flavor is initially dry and moderately bitter. Toffee, oak wood and orange on the finish. Leafy hop accents. Toasty cereal. Buoyant body, active carb keep things from being heavy. Interesting stuff, especially if you like oak.

Bomber bottle poured hazy red copper with a small off-white head and thin lacing. Aromas of coffee, cocoa, oak, dark fruit, and vanilla. Flavor is medium bitter with hints of yum.

Brilliant orange brown bourbon color. Huge toasted oak with vanilla, toasted nut, maple, caramel, and almost a coffee tinge. Flavor is more big toasty oak, vanilla, toffee, nutty biscuit and some hops in the finish. Lingering tart oak, vanilla, and toffee. More hints of acidic coffee. Hops hidden in the oak. Wow. What different beer. Complex, if not a bit over the top. Worth a go, but as stated before, donít expect an IPA.

650ml bottle. Shocked to find this is an ipa because it tastes fine, like toasty vanilla caramel.
