Aroma is full of tropical fruit including a ton of pineapple and light grapefruit. Hints of tropical fruit. The fruitiness is balanced nicely by a large amount of hop resin and dank pine and herbal notes.
Pours a very cloudy pale golden hay with a moderately thick, slightly off white head that has good retention, but slowly fades to the edges. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Its not a very pretty beer.
Flavor is lightly sweet with some cracker notes and a hint of biscuit. The hop flavor is medium with some tropical fruit, pineapple, grapefruit and pine resin. Finish has a moderately low bitterness with some lingering cracker and bread notes as well as a touch of resiny hop character. Mouthfeel is medium to medium light bodied with medium low carbonation. Low hop astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall this is exactly what I want in a pale ale. Tons of hop aroma with a nice balanced flavor with good malt character. Medium bitterness. This is what I picture a modern pale ale to be. The hops and bitterness don’t overwhelm the malt in the flavor either.

Tap at Dexters. Unfiltered orange-tan. Pretty nice tropical hop tones. Balanced, which seems typical of TG products. Smooth golden malt backbone. A really nice Pale Ale, very refreshing and sessionable, but with a real depth of quality ingredients. Solid.

22 ounce bottle thanks to Matthew. Pours a yellow orange. Big hoppy tropical aroma. Then that same hoppy tropical fruit taste. That is a lot of citrus, mango and grapefruit. For this price especially, if I lived in Iowa I’d be buying as much of this as I could. Very good beer.

bottled brew from with a big thanks to deb bobbins. xo very chitl.
pours a murky peach mango hue.
aroma offers a whole bunch of chill mango, peach pineapple fruitiness and is cut by bright lime and evergreen/grapefruit just like the bro says. kind of a neate contrast. works well together.
on the bitter side to be sure, but not like super bitter or anything like that. leaves a dank resin bitterness and pink grapefruit and mango on the mouth. higher booost up on the bitterness scale than trillium or hill farmstead hoppy pale ales. i gotta say it lifts and benches.
quite complex for a hoppy APA. tight hop character. fun beer. finish can be relatively bitter and drying. smashes the old pallat on the head.
booost is low-moderate boost.
Citra the T-Rex @ tame? good enough for a pete @ least?

Huge thanks to tectactoe for getting me some of this. A huge want for me for a long time. Extremely tropical. And a huge hop flavor. Would love to have again.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strong cheesy hop nose. Weird at first. From the bottle. Musty. Woody. Very faint fruitiness. Pours a very cloudy, nearly opaque, dark yellow. Minimal head. Moderate hop bitterness, smooth malt backbone. Hop flavor is slightly tropical, much better than the nose. Quenching. Tastes much better than it smells. Overall, not bad, but not great.

On tap at the Great Taste 2013. Cloudy yellow, abundant white head on top. Pungent and appealing aroma of fresh-squeezed grapefruit and oranges in a field of douglas firs. The taste is juicy, sweet oranges and wet hops off the vine. Really tasty and lip smackin’ good. Medium bodied, medium level of carbonation. Probably the most memorable ipa I had at the Great Taste, even though we called it Sussudio for about 24 hours (a variant naming idea for the guys at Goliath).

Bottle. Poor is cloudy yellow with little white head. Aroma is grapefruit and orange peel, toasted grain. Taste is big grapefruit, citrus, spicy earthy hops in the background. Toasted malt builds a body on this citra hop showcase.
