This single hop ale showcases the Citra hop. Named for the largest T-rex fossil ever discovered, she roars with ferocious aromas of grapefruit, citrus, mango and evergreen. Delicate in body with a mild bite in the finish.

Admin Note: Previously brewed as a 5.8% ABV offering, current and future batches are listed at 7% ABV per a tweak and translating the beer to a larger 30 bbl system. Tweaks may continue to change this ABV slightly as they settle on an official end product.

Wow. What a great beer! As one who’s had his share of IPAs, I find it hard to be bowled over by yet one more IPA--but this is not just one more IPA! The first thing that hits you is that glorious nose of grapefruit and herbs, and the flavor and the mouthful live up to the promise in that first impression. Proof that an IPA doesn’t have to be over the top in ABV or IBU to be truly satisfying. I wish I lived in Iowa where I could have access to this regularly.

Draft serving at the source. Pours a hazy orange with a white head of foam. The aroma has big citrus and pine. The taste is sweet initially, but starts to dry out in the finish. Light to medium body with medium carbonation.

Bottle (thanks to Ibrew1or2). Pineapple and mango highlight an awesome, clean aroma with rich pine resin, a touch of cat urine, and dry hay. Light straw in color with a thin swirl of a head. Crisp taste of bitter lemon peel, grapefruit, a light wood tone, and a resiny bite at the end. Light body with a super-dry finish. Refreshing as heck!

Hazy orange pour, white head, great lacing. Nose is big onion, citrus, very fresh. Taste is onion, light mango, biscuit, lasting light bitter finish. Soft carbonation, a touch watery but for the style the mouthfeel is still great. I could drink this all day.

Bottle acquired via trade with ReeceG! Damn! Damn! This one is world-class! Murky 14 karat brew with a dense ivory crown that leaves delicate rings of lacing inside the glass. One word: Intense! Dank, biting citrus, enamel peeling acidity, earthy grassiness, grapefruit pith, orange peel, lemon peel, papaya, guava, mango, and a touch of leafy greens. Incredibly complex. So many flavors and complimentary aromas. A liquid gem!

Lightly hazy, orange color, and a quick-fading white head. Ripe aroma of peach, mango, orange, and grapefruit. Mild sweetness in the front and citrus peel bitterness in the back. Lively and crisp, almost light-bodied, and a clean finish.

Kat whizzy aroma. Misty light gold. Tastes a lot smoother than it smells. Not all that bitter v. the aroma. Lightly sweet. Lightish body. Thanks to some masked Ratebeerian downstairs at Proof.

Bomber poured into a Dogfish Head IPA glass Pours a cloudy yellow with a thick head. The aroma is total citrus, grapefruit? Still waiting for the head to dissipate. Lots of tiny bubbles. This maybe my first APA so I’m not sure of what it is suppose to taste like. Hoppy, I could see how it might be a relative of a IPA. Strange citrus flavor. I am not a big grapefruit fan so this might not be a beer for me. I will admit though, I have never had a beer that tastes anything like this and the aroma hits me in the nose every time I take a drink. I will give it a chance to grow on me since I have 3 more bottles left.

Pours a hazy orange color with formal notes on the nose. Nice bitterness in the flavor with hints of mango and citrus. Beautiful balanced finish.

Whoa. How is that a pale ale? That smells like and tastes like an IPA. Whoa. That is SO good. Wow. Unreal.
