4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Rover Truck is in a class by itself in terms of appearance for an Oatmeal Stout. Rover Truck looks and pours like the oil you’d find in, well, a Rover Truck. Chocolate brown head. Aroma has roasted malt, bittersweet grains, cocoa, and coffee. Flavor has coffee, cream, dark chocolate, and a big black licorice note. Feel is viscous and rich. This is a dark, thick Stout, but it’s far from imposing. You can crush a couple of these in a sitting, and if you’re like me, you will.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black pour with a mocha head. Aroma is big and roasty, dark chocolate, slightly nutty, a touch sweet. Flavour is very rich and roasty, dark chocolate, nuts, coffee. Very rich and flavourful for the ABV and style, more bitter than expected for an oatmeal stout. Really nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark cola body, brown head, quickly fading, no lacing. Roasty cocoa aroma, but faint. Taste is semi-sweet, a touch of roast, lactose, even a faint hint of coffee, but overall I found the taste too subtle and the palate a touch thin. Could be richer and more developed over all.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty standard stout. A little thin on the palate. Taste is a bit one-dimensional, no oatmeal flavors coming through.

The Travlr tasting at ChrisO’s. Thanks to Gene for all the beers and Chris for hosting. Opaque dark black - brown beer, residual pale tan head. Palate is light with mild fine carbonation. Tangy thin dark malts. Tangy dark chocolate. Light dry finish. Just another over tangy stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a very dark brown with a quickly receding head. The smell is roasted malt, licorice and brown sugar. The taste is roasted malt, some molasses, dark chocolate, a lot of char and very dry. The body is light/medium with active carbonation.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle from from Rays Wine and Spirits, Wauwatosa, WI (bottled July 7, 2015). Very dark brown pour with a frothy cinnamon brown head. Rich aroma of chocolate, smoky malts, and roasted coffee. Taste features dark chocolate upfront with more subtle coffee, licorice, and smoke underneath. Finish is somewhat bitter from the roasted malt but also ends sweet which offsets some of the bitterness. An outstanding stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark cola color with small bit khaki head around the rim. Smells of a lactic chocolate coffee, cocoa, dark malt. Taste is smooth chocolatey, leather, fudge, a roasted hop, roasted malt, almond milk. Oatmeal smoothed this out nicely, good amount of sweetness to roastiness. Easy to drink.
