COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after Decorah’s main street, this beer pays homage to our original accounts, most of who reside on Water Street. Hints of bananas and cloves make this wheat beer a favorite. Easy drinking with tons of flavor, the velvet texture finish is reminiscent of the Upper Iowa River, which flows just down the street from the original brewery.

22 oz bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Thanks as always, Clifford. Pours a much darker carmelized amber brownish hue, well hazed and a bit murky almosst. Frothy offwhite head atop supports a fuller filmy layer, nice stick around and solid lacing throughout. Aromas present a touch of lemon, sweeter bread dough and flaked wheat. Flashes of banana, fruit ester, carmelized malts and some sweetness. Earth, bready malts and a bit of earthy bitterness. Toast, biscuit, carmelized malts layer on top of this fruit, no real spice or clove with just a subtle yeasty life behind. Initial is lighter in body than anticipated, a firmer lemony rind and bitter bite creeps in initially, a touch soapy, earthy with a mellow toasty bready malt presence. Gentle sweetness, subtle fruit, a bit more of that biscuity malt toast and depth that puts a slightly darker spin on this Wheat. A bit toasty, gentle bready malts and a cleaner backend and finish give firmer toasty bread, flaked wheat and subtle doughy sweetness. Earthy hop bitterness, a touch green and lemony at times, that carmelized toasty feel keeps moving. Never gets estery, sweet or a bit rambunctious, this one certainly differs a bit from what I expected. A bit lemony, bitter and a decent hop trail out does work here, soap and florals, lemony jabs. Overall, this one is different. A bit murky and dark, the beer drinks welll enough, never gets sweet and offers a unique toasty/carmelized appeal with a hop element that comes on well enough into the backend and finish. Different but a solid drinker overall.

bottle via Johns Grocery. Poured into a Lagunitas mason jar glass. Nose is very grainy with a hint of sweetness and some light grassiness. LIght melon notes. Taste is initially citrus and then a faint banana. Quickly changes to mostly a clove and phenolic dominated mid palate, then dries out with a grassy astringency that wrinkles my cheeks. Some light ash and smokiness as it warms. What happened here?!?!

Bottle, didnt see a date, but not sporting the new logo caps. Straight up American wheat ale. Touch of orange peel, but the wheat dominates. Low bitterness.

22 oz. bottle from John’s Grocery. Pours a super hazy dull orange-gold with a small off-white head. Really muddy, kind of like a lot of their beers. Certainly has a lot of wheat, including some toasted wheat, with wildflowers, clove, light citrus fruits, soap, and mild spice. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a wheaty, muddled, lightly bitter mouthfeel. Tastes as muddled as it looks, but it’s not bad.

Average wheat beer at best. Fruity and yeasty with a sweet finish. Smells like fruit and yeast. Pours cloudy copper in color. Slightly hoppy. Had out of a bomber ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
