3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 tenghave (402) - Taastrup, DENMARK - APR 25, 2006

Faint, but pleasant aroma. Strong coffee overtone, nicely offset with the slight sweetness. Good mouthfeel. A very pleasant beer.

Dark brown/red color. Dates and caramel aroma. Similar taste. Mostly malt on this, little-to-no hops noticable at all. Smooth taste and mouthfeel. Good dark malty beer.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 opiate (199) - Sandy, Utah, USA - FEB 15, 2002
I had this on tap at the ’Slovakian House’ during the 2002 Winter Games here in SLC. I consider myself very lucky. This was a great beer. I couldn’t get my head around the idea that it might be a Schwarzbier (my boss kept saying it was) and I wasn’t convinced because this beer has much more depth than any schwarz I’ve tried. It was rich...malty...a touch of roast in the beginning. A small burst of toffee toward the middle..and a clean smooth finish. Then a superb...and I mean superb aftertaste. I love beer like this...there’s something special about it for sure. Maybe I got the royal treatment by having it fresh on tap...as the other review isn’t that great. But it was an incredible beer in my ever so humble opinion.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 engelschalk (144) - Trnava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - NOV 4, 2012
Deep dark red/black color, beige head. Sweet and slight caramel aroma, dryness and alcohol can be found in this beer. Sweet caramel flavor, with mild bitter palate.
