Sample at MBGSF 2010. Poured dark brown color with medium brown creamy head that lasted with excellent lacing. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Interesting solid brew.

Tap @ Jolly Pumpkin Ann Arbor. Dark brown appearance with a brown head. Roasty, dark chocolate, slightly milky, mild espresso aroma. Slightly tangy, fruity, dark chocolate flavor. Tangy but nice.

Deep brown pour with a thin off-white head. The nose is quite chocolatey and softly fruity. There is a touch of fruit and an odd vegetal sweetness. Oddly estery and quite dusty on the finish. Some strange sort of tartness as well. A light lingering chocolate finish but itís quite odd and not really all that good.

Enjoyed on cask at Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor. Madagascar chocolate. Chocolate and sour imperial stout aroma. Lots of roast. Black with three-eighths of an inch of off-white head, lacing is good. Average mouthfeel for a cask. Good bitter chocolate, and only 30 IBU. Really great cask.

2011-11-12. This is the tale, of a Chocolate stout, black body with a modest tan head. 3+ Flavour is quite tangy, on a mystical quest to the Isle of Tortuga, with a bit sourness. Sort of an ashen porter character to it that I am not sure if it is intentional or not. And now back to the good part! Cocoa with a bit of a tang to it. Heater on blast, Iím the number one stunner! Dry roast aroma, hints of dry cocoa and a similar tangy quality to it as the aroma. Average to light bodied palate. Okay but I am not loving it. This whole cask is a stout, just waiting for chocolate. Needs more Michael Bolton. YEAAAHH! On cask at Jolly Pumpkin Cafe, Ann Arbor

On tap at Jolly Pumpkin Ann Arbor on our way to RBSG. Pours a clear cola brown with a thin beige head. Soft cocoa, warm bread, coffee, vanilla. Smooth with some gentle chocolate, very fine light carbonation. Excellent body on this thing. Very gentle soft cocoa finish. Quite tasty.

Cask at the A2 brewpub. Pours a hazy chocolate brown with a creamy brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a note of light chocolate with dark grains and bread as a backbone. Flavor has a good amount of chocolate up front that becomes slightly bitter with backing dark bread and a bit of dryness.

Tap in Ann Arbor and at the MiBG Summer Fest 2010: Deep brown with a small creamy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate (duh), butterscotch, coffee, ash, tar, herbal hops, some roast and bready vapours, and a hint of lacto and cherry twang. The taste is pretty much a roasty dry stout with non-sweetened chocolate and a hint of coffee bean. There Is a slight Diacetyl tone but not too forward as well as a slight molasses, nutty and charred character. The mouth feel is smooth, chewy and a bit chalky. While I am happy this does not have the usual JP funky qualities, I did find it a bit forgettable, run of the mill stout.

Dark brown color with tan head. Nice chococlate, roasty, nutty aromas. light body, average carbonation. Milk chocolate, medium roast coffee flavors with blackened malts--drying finish---not bad
