3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Session sour ipa. On tap, poured into a tumbler. The aroma is bright, dense, oaky and musty with a blend of floral, grass, and grape notes that come together in a bit of a oak forward white wine / cheap champagne and a slight solvent / cleanser hint. Itís a slightly hazy, straw colored beer but has a sparkling hint and is topped by a soft white foam that has a mild retention and a light lace. The taste is a medium / medium high bitter with a medium light sweetness, and a blunt, medium sour. The texture is slick but thin with an active carbonation and a light body containing notes of sour grapes (white wine), bread, oak, underripe stone fruit, and citrus zest with a finish thatís crisp and dries up leaving an aftertaste of floral, tart champagne and herbal, bread. Overall fresh and clean.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The beer poured a hazy golden with a tight white head that receded into some very nice lacing as the beer went down. The aroma was pretty nice with some citrus and floral hop notes, although there was something off in the balance. The taste was a little more off than the smell--the hop bitterness was certainly there, but the chemistry just wasnít right. There were some floral and earthy undertones that didnít quite fit with the bitterness and the underlying malt. As much as I wanted to like this one, I just didnít. The mouthfeel was fairly light, and drinkability was certainly hampered by the balance issues presented by the overall taste.
