Bottled, tasting @ cgarvieuk. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Nose is sweet, marzipan, fruits, bubblegum, rubber. Flavour is massive bubblegum, fruits, sweet candy. Medium carbonation. A bit artificial.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 FaithHealer1 (333) - SCOTLAND - JUL 22, 2011
Bottle at cgarvieuk’s. Pours a semi-cloudy gold/yellow, with a 2 finger, quickly fading head. Aroma is sweet, honeyish but quite cloying - 6 is generous. Taste is syrupy, bubblegum sweetness. Some hops, but not enough to liven things up. It’s also thin and a bit too fizzy. Not great.

Bottle shared at cgarvieuk’s. Didn’t make appearance notes - oops! Syrup, funky sweet bubblegum nose. Thin palate with martian, some hint at saison ester but too sweet. Fizzy, meh.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Opened with a bang at Craig’s. A light golden colour with a sweet, musty marzipan nose. A little smoke and honey. Flavours of candy sugar, grassy hops and musty honey. Heavily carbonated with lingering sweet, grassy hop flavour. A late apple taste also.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 bottle@my beertasting – sample: made for a popular Belgian beer show which is aimed at non-beer geeks which I rarely watch because I feel it often badly lacks information I am interested in, it is presented by Ray Cokes (who either is or acts a guy who knows absolutely nothing about beer & sometimes seems to be drinking it for the first time) and Jean Blaute (whose knowledge is about average at best but is supposed to be an expert), they have been accused recently of taking kickbacks from breweries which might explain why the find every beer they taste to be pretty much amazing (painfully Cantillon being the only exception I ever saw because it is too sour + their comment on Black Albert was that it is so dark & too heavy, I would have no idea how it tastes based on their reviews & that goes for all their beers) often seemingly favoring bigger breweries, the Tripel Hop’s mentioned in the name are Magnum, Amarillo & Cascade for dry-hopping, their beer pours hazy orange with a white head, taste is that of banana’s, sweet with fruity American hops, citrus, slight bittering hops in the finish, touch of spice, light booze & cane sugar everywhere, lots of yeast but the whole is surprisingly tame considering what you would have expected with this hops (you can make them out but they lack the punch a bit) but that is probably a result of the audience they had in mind, considered to be the weakest beer at the beer tasting, only one that labeled as being bad for being too weak tasting & this was by people who are not used to hoppy beers //// sampled another 75 cl. bottle @ new year’s @ friend’s house, courtesy of another friend & dubiously self-proclaimed beer expert who first wanted to age this for a year or so, sometimes in my ignorance, I just question his beer expertise: pours clear golden with a white head, the taste is an unpleasant blast of bitter herbal hops (no Amarillo or Cascade here) followed by Belgian yeast, sweet fruits (incl. banana) & cane sugar, this one is very unbalanced, didn’t like it much but I was the only one, every one else thought that it was a great beer /// rating for the first bottle sampled
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 JanEric (845) - Meppel, NETHERLANDS - JUL 10, 2011
Golden blonde, dense thick white head, some carbonation. Aroma is hoppy, with citrus and maybe some banana. Taste is slightly bitter, fresh, some lemon. I expected more bitterness, it goes away soon. A bit dry finish. Average, a bit flat.
