Growler at Tasting, Seattle. Deep red-brown. No head. Rum, sweet alcohol, strong aroma. Vanilla, tobacco, rising alc flavor. Burns at finish. Cherries soaked in rum.

Pours hazy purple/brown with off white head in goblet. Taste is huge malt sweetness that breaks way into a bit of hoppiness and finishes strong with dark fruit and malt with a nice bitter and smooth finish. The barrel aging really smooths and combines the flavors well, and this beer is one I am lucky to have had. Amazing!

(on tap at Town Hall) Pours a muddy brown with an off-white head that sticks around and leaves some lacing. Just an amazing aroma of red wine, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, raisins, figs, light chocolate, pancake batter, and baked bread. The four years of aging must have tamed the alcohol because I am not picking any of it up throughout consumption. The flavor is just as great as the aroma, with a lot of dark fruit, such as raisins, figs, and prunes, with red vines licorice, bread, red wine, and cherry present as well. Thereís also a bit of oak, bread, and salt on the finish as well. The mouthfeel is full and the carbonation is just a bit high. Being biased towards wine-barrel aged beers, this rating might be inflated, but wow was this a great beer, and itís just a superb integration of barrel and beer. Well done Town Hall.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours dark copper brown with a tiny white head. Fairly weak aroma: a hint of sweet malt and some oak. Sweet flavor of malt, caramel and used oak. Hides the alcohol well. Nice rich texture on the palate. Finishes sweet with notes of alcohol.

After 20 minutes of vigerous stirring, i got a heavily oaked nose with some dark malt characteristics. My glass smelled stronger than badgerben and akevitts, prompting us to wonder what the heck was going on.. Oaked body with a mix of biscuit and light oak half way between brandy and an exceptionally light bouron (think eagle rare).

Brown color with an off white head that was pretty thin. Not much of an aroma. Thick creamy mouth feel, seems very carbonated. There isnít a whole lot of quad like flavor, there is some chocolate like flavors. A tingling fruit character that is followed up with an alcohol bite. Interesting flavors from the barrel are present but arenít pronounced and take a back seat to everythng else that is going on.

Dark murky copper color with a thin head. Weak aroma of sweet malts, caramel and oak. The flavor is a killer mix of caramel and chocolate malts with brandy oak. Definitely sweet, but not so much it turns to candy. Very nice.
