Growler courtesy of CLevar. Pours opaque black with thick tan head that sticks around leaving a lot of lacing. Aroma is Chocolaty with notes of coffee, and oatmeal cookies. Flavor is much the same with a full body and creamy palate

Black like a stout with tan head that disappears and no lacing, definitely no nitro. Smell is clean vanilla, milk and dark chocolate, not overly sweet, flavar starts thee same, becomes fairly lactic, smoky and woody amd bitter root or bark as it recedes....which is taking a very long time this one.

On tap at the brewpub on August 11th. Poured as you’d expect, a dark brown/nearly black opaque pour. Went down very silky smooth, and had everything you’d want from a nice sweet stout - chocolate, some coffee, roastiness. Delicious.

Dark black in color and had a rather tall tan head. Just a perfect roasted malt flavor, one of my favorite stouts.

On tap at the brew pub...Pours black with a medium tan head that rises a finger and stays a decent amount of time. Thick lacing...A decent aroma of sweet chocolate, roasy and the oatmeal comes through nicely. Could be a bit stronger and more roasty to really get me excited...The taste is on the sweet side, needs more roast to balance it out more. Light hops on the back give some balance, just not enough.
Worth trying but nothing special.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2012 On tap at MTHB. Dark black appearance with a brown head. Oatmeal and dark raosty chocolate malts in the nose. Roasty dark chocolate malty flavor with some espresso.

Like most Oatmeal stouts, average. It wasn’t too sweet with some roast, but it was also not super thick.

On tap at the brewpub. Haha, this is listed as "Black H20" when it should be "Black H2O." Epic listing fail. Trying to drink a molecule made of 20 hydrogen atoms would totally suck. Very dark brown with a lasting tan head and some good lacing. Roasty coffee aroma with a hint of anise, very full and balanced. Excellent flavor, with dark chocolate, anise, roastiness, and coffee. A damn tasty beer from a brewery that makes some great stouts in my experience. Dry on the mouthfeel, but paradoxically has a good oatmeal smoothness to it. Really solid overall - this and Masala Mama were the best in the classic sampler.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub (Minneapolis, MN). Pours a near pitchblack opaque pour, a decent frothy grayish head, maybe light brown dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are sweetened coffee, cream, touches of cocoa and roasty grains. Initial is roasty, a fuller bodied, but not overly big. Tastes are roasted coffee, sweet cream, oatmeal, some cocoa, and earth smoke. Peanuts. Some smokiness, roasty, toast, sweet toffee. Not bad, the roast really strikes some good notes. Solid house sweeter slanted stout here, doesn’t overdo it, instead letting the roasted malts take over on the backend
