3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler, courtesy JW77. The pour yields a dark chocolate brown body with a small, foamy, light brown head. Patchy sheets of lacing cling to the glass. The nose is simple but well executed, notes of bittersweet chocolate, burnt caramel, and coffee all smoothed and drawn together by roasted oats. Flavors are largely the same, displaying a nice balance between the same sweet points in the chocolate-caramel profile, and the roastiness of the coffee with the earthen hops. The creamy oats are the glue that binds everything together and keeps things smooth. Medium bodied and silky, the palate is balanced but lacking a bit in substance. Overall, a fine, tasty, sessionable stout. Good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ brewery. Black water...the name someone matches my experience. Appearance is ebony with just the slightest splinters of mahogany around the edges when held to the light. Tight and creamy latte head produced a number of small ringlets. Flavor and aroma of burnt malt, cocoa, coffee, oat, and vanilla. Also has a slightly lactic/sour quality. Palate is surprisingly thin...a bit more body would have improved this significantly.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft: pours dark black, burnt coffee, chocoalte, malt aroma, taste is a bit like sour coffee with some malt backbone, fairly thin mouthfeel for a stout which is always disappointing to me. Still, this was the best thing I had while at Town Hall.
