Tap at brewpub. Pours a deep black with a chalky chocolate with a slight hint of smoke. Flavor is molasses-infused chocolate. Average mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

Draft: pours dark black, burnt coffee, chocoalte, malt aroma, taste is a bit like sour coffee with some malt backbone, fairly thin mouthfeel for a stout which is always disappointing to me. Still, this was the best thing I had while at Town Hall.

Well they took this off nitro I am told, though it had the characteristics of a nitro, but more the taste of a tap. The carbonation is good at the Hall. Roasted barley and chocolate smell. It is dark and lacey. An above average mouthfeel, not as creamy as a nitro - chocolate rich. A good stout.

Vanilla. Light oatmeal flavor in a good way. The caramel is pretty average. The finish is pretty good and roasty. Palate is too thin, but not horribly so.

Aroma was of roasted malts, you could smell the slight chocolate sweetness, atste was smooth slight chocolate and coffee with a nice touch of dark chocolate sweetness, smooth yet a little on the thin side. Despite the hop beers and tasty food, I was enjoyin the nice malt flavors came through

Nice dark body with a tan head. Smoky, roasted malts coming up rather nicely in the aroma. Flavor is like drinking a breakfast meal, and in that respect the beer has done quite well. Nice and sweet. A little thin on the body, but otherwise, quite good.

On tap at the brewpub. Nearly black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Thick mouthfeel, but not as creamy as I would have expected. Drinkable, but certainly nothing noteworthy.

I think that beers need to stop calling themselves oatmeal stouts unless they have a distinct oatmeal flavor and feel. This has neither, but has malt and faint chocolate flavor aroma and flavor. The use of nitrogen gas definitely gives this a great look, thick and creamy but I think it takes away from flavor. The finish is fine, but doesn’t leave you wanting to take another sip.

[Tap] Pours black with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is bittersweet coffee, some oats, and roasted barley. Flavor follows nicely, and the nitro is a nice addition. Bittersweet chocolate makes an appearance. Medium mouthfeel and a dryish finish.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 crowderm (373) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 29, 2008
Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee, maybe a hint of oats somewhere in there. Appearance is dark black, with a bit a of deep red, and a very small tan head. Some nice lacing as I drink. The flavor is excellent - tons of coffee and dark chocolate up front with some round oat flavors following. Have to say though, I’m tasting the coffee more than anything else. Palate is decent, pretty thick and smooth, but not as creamy as what I would expect (Samuel Smiths) from an oatmeal stout. Overall a very good brew, even if it isn’t the best example of its style.
