COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured black with a brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had a nice combination with of strong roasted malt and slight smoke with a bit of backing oat. Flavor had a strong roasted note initially accompanied by some smoke that mellowed to a dark grain finish.

Growler. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong roasted malt, chocolate, wood. Medium mouth feel, similar flavors to nose, very sweet, light vanilla, good.

TAP: at Town Hall, 2.22.09. Pours a jet black, minimal head. Plenty of roast on the nose, and roast/chocolate taste. Very good stout.

Some pulls from my wife’s two pints at Town Hall. This one pours a dark brown with a finger of beige head that dissipates into a film and ring. Notes of roasted malts, chocolate, oats, cream, caramel, toasted nuts, vanilla, and toast. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Roasty, sweet, and right to style.

Pours thick black with deep tan head, smell is roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Taste upfront is coffee and bitter chocolate, really creamy mouth feel from the oatmeal, and ends nicely with smooth roasted/smoky malts. Excellent beer!

Growler as an extra from tytoanderso! Thanks Tyler, shared with some people at Lost Abbey. Pours with a black body and a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, leather and roast. Taste is roast, earthy, chocolate and leather. Pretty solid. Creamy body.

DC gathering. This one had made a long journey by growler, but didn’t seem to have suffered too much on the trip. It had a typical big coffee aroma, which carried through on to the palate. Some bitter chocolate too and, despite the "sweet stout" tag, I found it quite dry. Lots of fruity accents. Not the biggest stout, but pretty respectable.

Black Olive colored pour; mocha colored head with good lacing. Good sweet chocolately aroma. Has a bit too much lacticity for my taste. Good bittersweet chocolate notes make a presence but the mouthfeel is just a bit thin. Overall, not bad and would order a pint or two next time around.
