COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

Thanks to hopdog for landing this growler. Pours a dark, dark brown with a large fluffy tan head. The more I poured from this growler into larger glasses the larger and more pronounced the head. Aroma of milk chocolate, tabacco, cherry, strawberry Twizzler and oatmeal. Really a lot going on in this aroma. Flavor was more smokey, chocolate and oatmeal.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2004 Original Rate - June 29, 2004: Nice black color with a tan head.Aroma is a little dim, but hints at chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is good. It’s more like a porter than a stout. It certainly did not seem like a sweet stout. More chocolate, coffee, malt. Very, very thin body, probably the thinnest I’ve ever tasted for a stout. 6-4-8-4-16 Re-rate on cask - December 9th, 2004: The first main difference is the body. H2O on cask is incredibly smooth and creamy with just a gorgeous head. The taste picked up an amazing chocolate covered cherry surprise. Fantastic! 7-5-9-5-17

Jet black and oily. Roasty, dark vinous nose. Very sweet to the tongue, some robsutness late...rather light for style but eminently drinkable.

On tap at Town Hall. Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and fake chocolate. Body is a tad thin and tastes of semi-sweet roasted malt and mild chocolate but mostly just roasted barley and roasted malt. Finishes up a tad dry.

2004 growler @ the DCVAMD gathering. Good dark brown appearance, lightly hazy and a small fizzy beige head. Aroma of nuts, sour milk, malted milk and some dry roast. Flavor is quite roasty, lightly sweet, with a good amount of oatmeal smoothness, but it needs more body. The creaminess is dried out by the bitterness on the end. Didnt notice much belgian characteristic.

On a nitro tap at Town Hall during the RBSG 2007 Pub Crawl. Dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Sweet chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Sweet chocolate and coffee flavor.

Opaque 95% black color. Runny, deep tan colored head. Toasty, almost burnt, barley malt aroma. Sweet, chocolately, creamy, stout flavor. Creamy, and smooth, but not too thick, so as to weigh one down too much. Warms, a little bit from the inside out, even at only 6.2%.

My buddy, on first taste, exclaimed ’a watery Malt-O-Meal’. Though slightly watery, there were some nice bold flavors here, coffee-like especially. It kept a nice head as well. This brewery tends to overcarbonation, IMHO, but produces very drinkable, uncomplex versions of the style. Same here.

Draught at the brewpub. Opaque black with khaki head that laced the glass. Roasted malt and anise aroma. Roasty on the tongue with chocolate and light toffee flavors. Full bodied and smooth mouth fell.
