This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

Pitch black body with a dense light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee & bitter burnt scents. Medium-bodied; Very nutty taste with good roasted malt flavours. Aftertaste shows more bitter tastes and more coffee flavours. Overall, not great-too much nuttiness for an oatmeal in my opinion. Many thanks to hopscotch for bringing this beer! I sampled from this growler at the November RB party at Founderís in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2004.

Just another pretty face. Just another good looking oatmeal stout. Kind of sits there without intensity or complexity. Sweet coffee taste, smoke smokey nose, some bitter finish that seems out of place.

Black Olive colored pour; mocha colored head with good lacing. Good sweet chocolately aroma. Has a bit too much lacticity for my taste. Good bittersweet chocolate notes make a presence but the mouthfeel is just a bit thin. Overall, not bad and would order a pint or two next time around.

I think that beers need to stop calling themselves oatmeal stouts unless they have a distinct oatmeal flavor and feel. This has neither, but has malt and faint chocolate flavor aroma and flavor. The use of nitrogen gas definitely gives this a great look, thick and creamy but I think it takes away from flavor. The finish is fine, but doesn’t leave you wanting to take another sip.

Dark cola body with creamy tan head. Aroma is coffee, mildly sweet. Taste is coffee, mildly sweet. Creamy smooth body. Maybe I've gotten so used to coffee beers that I need something more, but to me this beer seemed to just sit there.

Never liked this brew, especially served on nitrogen. On cask it fares a little better but all the flavors, excepting the chocolate, taste a bit overripe, like burnt coffee and corked red wine.

Typical effort. Lots of roasted flavors, not much oatmeal noticeable. Slightly astringent and thin. Not really great. Oh, and it was overly carbonated, too.

Like most Oatmeal stouts, average. It wasnít too sweet with some roast, but it was also not super thick.

Opaque. Nose full of molasses. Molasses carries over into the flavor, but itís a bit cloyingly sweet, like itís flavored with dark corn syrup or something (which I know itís not, but still . . .).

HIGHLY dissapointing! It started off strong by looking good. Had a black body with a brown head. One of my favorite looks for a beer. Aroma was kind of funky though: some coffee, and a little roast, but most cardboard. I thought ok the aroma is off with the cardboard notes lets give her a taste. This is where I got OWND! The use of nitro made the beer taste like CRAP, combine that with its gummi bear?!?! taste and you have gummi bears loaded with ntiro. Not very pleasing at all. Actually had some hops come through in the finish. It had a solid body which is normally a good thing, but in this one all it does is make the nasty ass taste even stronger. Remove from menu please. DID NOT ENJOY.
