Commercial Description:
A traditional English special bitter, brewed with British yeast, barley, and hops. This smooth treat has a malt character that is rich in nutty caramel sweetness finished by the flavor and aroma of classic East Kent Golding hops. Made extra special smooth by nitrogen carbonation.

This is a solid ESB, in my opinion, rivaling any bottled out there. Good blend of malt and hop, and the crisp hint a fruitiness is appreciated. I hope it goes cask!

Pour is copper with very little white head. Aroma is caramel malts and also with some fruity hops. Flavor is caramel malts, some toasted barley and bitter nuts. Nice bitter finish but not quite as easy to down. Good brew tho.

Pint at Town Hall, a darker colored amber brown with a smallish head. Aroma of sweet malt and some hops. The flavor is really not much different from that of the West Bank Pub Ale. This really did not do it for me as an ESB since it did not have enough of the orange marmalade notes I expect in an ESB. The palate is a bit rough and over active. Overall, I was much better off with the Cask IPA today!

Draft @ the brewpub. Copper in colour with low carbonation. Pear and red apple esters on the nose, along with notes of floral UK hops, and a bit of toffee. Hops are upfront in the mouth, but take on new characteristics of earth and wood along with the floral element. Caramel malts and a bit of a toasted bread note provide some balance to this fairly bitter ESB. There’s a mild booze note too. Pretty good overall.

Brown color very similar to the Lightning storm I just tried. bitter hop nose with nutty caramel cutting through - the description did not disappoint. Refreshing bitter nut caramel body.

the beer is a clear copper color, topped by an inch or so of dense but smooth and creamy tan foam. Good head retention, fantastic lacing - thick like paint on the sides of the glass from start to finish. Mildly hoppy with some sweetish malt in the aroma - I think the thick head of foam may inhibit the aroma somewhat. I tried a second pint (and a third), got the same results... Nice tasting beer, starting out with a mild caramel malt and a floral hoppiness that was more bitter than I usually find with floral hopping. A drier toasted biscuit malt came out in the finish, I really enjoyed that. Medium bodied, fully but not exceptionally carbonated, and oh so smoooth.
