Sample at the brewpub. Very clear light golden body, bubbly. Smooth, fresh malty-grassy aroma, light caramel and lemon-lime soda character on the tongue. Smooth, light body but not insipid.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I think you guys are scoring a little high on this one. Not much aroma, what was there is malt. Gold, no head, very clean looking. Good flavor; malt again, surprisingly sweet. Smooth and easy to drink. One of the better recent efforts from Town Hall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bug dope? Ok sure. This brewski has a yellowish golden color with a small white head. Grassy and crisp on the aroma with a touch of pale malt. Very dry and grassy flavor with notes of lemon and hay. Medium-light body with an appropriate carbonation level. Solid for the style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Typical cloudy golden, yellow, with a pure as white snow head. There are enough bubbles in this beer to keep you happy. Very crisp, and refreshing aroma. Earthen aroma. Flavor is delicate and precise. Tastes a little like lemon grass. A really good Cologne beer. Wear this one in germany. A little sweet and fizzy on the finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 30, 2004 The kolsch style is one that took me awhile to really appreciate, in that so many of the American craft-brew varities I’d encountered seemed so different , and they lacked any true cohesion to essential characteristics. Some bottles straight from Cologne helped fixed the real nature of the style, and I’ve got to say that Mr. Hoops did a fine job nailing it down.
Appearance: bright golden color, good 1/2" head of snow-white foam atop.
Aroma, quiet, but pleasing hops, delicate fruit, notes of pear and green apple. Very sophisticated and serene, light, yet but with a delcious, honeyish tone that tickles the nose.
Taste: a tidy hop buzz begins, then slowly slides off, leaving a slim fruitiness that softly dries on the palate. Light bodied, crisp finish, excellent flavor. This was a good one try out for the summertime, and an alternative option for those who stumble in looking for the closest thing to their normal light lager (you know the type, "what do have that’s close to Coors Light?").
Of course, it’s nothing like that stuff, but the flavor is so subtle, but still noble, that can just whiz past the less-discerning.
Mouthfeel is just right for the style, largely clean and supple, but still possessing a low-key spark that rewards with each sip you take. Drinkability is huge.
The name comes from the amusing notion put forth by the beer’s creator that not only will this be excellent relief for strenuous acts of grass-cutting, but stands in as a useful repellent for our true state bird, the mosquito. I guess there’s only one way to find out!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear glowing straw gold color, small based whitish firm cap, minimal spotty lacing.
Aroma is quite nice, dullish sweet malt and pale malt, a touch candish, not all that strong, but very nice to take in, clean, mild, fresh, fruity, with a baked honey wheat bread quality.
Taste is just as nice as the smell would leave you to believe, very well handled malt profile, dullish, mild sweetness that brings in fresh bread dough; slick and chewy in some regards. Honeyish and candy-like without the sugars. Very inticing little flavor nuances located throughout. Touches of hops delicately breach the finishing area with calm grassy/floral notes. Its effortless smoothness and easy taste just begs to be drank.
Easy going, creamy smooth feel, lightly carbonated with a certain textured give in areas. Solid medium body and quite quaffable.
