This Americanized “kristalweiss” beer was made with 45% wheat malt (hence, the name) with the rest filled out by German Vienna malt – much like the malt of our Hefe recipe. This is where any similarity ends, however. We hopped it as we would any single-hop pale ale – with a lot of American Crystal hops (again, the name). It was fermented with our house ale yeast – NOT a Germen Hefeweizen strain. You won’t get any spicy clove, bubblegum yeast character from this beer. Lastly, we filtered the beer to strip out the yeast and as much wheat haze as possible (which one wouldn’t do to any Hefeweizen) in the tradition of a “Kristal weiss” beer. The result is a refreshing, crisp hoppy wheat ale perfect for a warm, sunny day, or whatever kind of day June will give us.

Very interesting brew. Aromas of piney hops.. which is interesting and good for this type of beer. Flavours of banana and hops. Really unique and good.

On tap at Town Hall, pale yellow pour with no head. Aroma of sweet wheat and grain. Taste is the same, bit bland. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy yellow brown pour. Aroma of funk, hops, honey and body odor. Tastes of soapy dishwater & piney apricot hops. Some tartness on the palate & film. More like a pale than a weiz. I was sorely disappointed in this one.

Tap @ Town Hall. Pours a fairly clear yellow appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy, a touch piney hoppy, light banana aroma. Soft wheat, vanilla, banana, herbal, spicy hoppy flavor. Easy to drink.

Growler. Clear yellow pour, light carbonation and an aroma of crisp light honey. Flavor is light hay, clean crisp light lagerish sweetness. Perfect for a summer evening at the grill.
