(sample at Papsø’s; courtesy of steasy66) Pours pitch black with frothy, creamy coffee head. Good retention and lace. Aroma is rounded oaky with whisky notes. Creamy texture, medium carbonation, medium body for the abv and a roasted, ascorbic finish. Taste is dark, roasted and slightly bitter with a faint acidic edge.

Bottle at Papsø. Pitch black coloured with a medium sized brown head. Sweet and roasted aroma of caramel, dark chocolate, bourbon and vanilla. Roasted flavour of caramel, licorice and dark chocolate with notes of hops, bourbon and berries. Roasted finish.

75 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malty, wooden, vanilla and liqourice. Bitter, dark malty and liqourice. Smooth dark chocolate and dense malty. Light bitterness, vanilla and mild liqourice. Smooth dark roasted malty finish.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, roasted malt, soy sauce, and wood, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Steasy66. Vintage 2012. Pours a pitch black with a small light brown head. Lovely oaky nose, more oaky than sweet bourbonish. Medium body, dark roast, loads of dark dried fruit and a subtle oaky edge. Has a slightly tart edge to it but doesn’t appear infected - more like a roasty tartness. 140712

pitch black, large very smooth brown to light brown head. aroma is roasted malts, alc, wood, booze, dry, hard roasted malts, flavor is roasted malts, wood, very slightly woody tart.

Bottle @ Papsø. Shared by Ryan with me and the Danish crew. Thanks! Black appearance with a dark brown head. Rich caramel, very nice toffee, excellent vanilla, delicious whiskey aroma. Smooth dark chocolate, a bit tangy, plum, fig, coconut, oaky, mildly acidic flavor with some mild whiskey booziness showing up on the finish.

Brad brought this to my tasting on May 29, 2010. A huge thank you for sharing this great beer. Czar Jack has a stunning appearance. The beer is jet black with a substantial, thick beige head that leaves copious amounts of lacing on the glass. Aromas consist of a big whiskey presence, roasted malt, and subtle oak notes. This beer tastes incredible. The flavors are integrated and balanced very well. The Jack Daniels flavor is bold and forward, yet not offensive or overdone. This is a truly well-crafted brew. The feel is creamy and smooth with a warming note in the finish. I highly recommend this beer.

Bottle from trade poured a dark chestnut color with a thick covering of mocha head. Aroma has some sourness, dark malts, roast, and some barrel wood. Mouth feel is thin for the style and there is plenty of carbonation. Flavor unfortunately confirms the nose with sour tartness, cherry, dark roasted malt, and some heat. This bottle is definitely infected:(

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2012 Bottle. Pours black with brown head. Nose/taste of milk chocolate, roasty black malt, anise, vanilla and oak. Some alcohol in finish. Sweet chocolate mouth feel. Medium body.
