The name pretty much describes the beer. "Hefe" meaning "with yeast" and "weizen" meaning "wheat". Our version used approximately 60% wheat malt in addition to the 40% malted barley. The result is a light, slightly tart ale that’s hazy in appearance. The perfect beer to quench your summer thirst.

Hazy yellow pour at the brewery with a thick white head and some white lacing. Nice slightly spicy / banana / clove nose. Refreshing, yeasty, slight cracker going on in there and just a hint of acid mixed in with the the banana phenolics.

Keg @ Town Hall. Hazy gold with a tight creamy white head. Classic nose. Plenty of banana and clove. Bubblegum sweetness. Bread. Taste is crisp. Bright. Mashed banana and sugared cereal. Some pear juice. Spritzy finish. Light and active on the palate. Decent.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy yellow with a touch of orange and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of clove with some sweet wheat and a bit of bread. Flavor has a nice combination of wheat and clove with a nice light earthiness.

Tap - small foamy head, very hazy orange-yellow color, pretty big shot of typical hefe banana and clove aroma and flavor, sweet wheat backbone, good hefe overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cloudy bright yellow with a nice white head. Aroma of banana big time. Taste is a lot of banana and medium thick body. A little one dimensional but decent. Just missing that real German full yeast flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewpub. I came in from walking around so I wanted something refreshing. This really hit the spot. A well-made, classic style hefe with iconic yeast. Slightly more bready than a true German hefe, but still worthy. Served in a standard pint glass though.

Tap at the brewery. Typical cloudy yellow-orange with a one-finger white head. Big banana and clove on the aroma. The flavor has banana and clove with medium sweetness and good spice. Medium-light body with lively carbonation. Excellent for the style.

Tap @ Town Hall Tap Minneapolis. Pours a fairly hazy, moderately cloudy, light orange appearance with a nice, fluffy white head. Slightly spicy, wheat malty forward, lightly estery, a bit bready aroma. The yeast is fairly subdued in the flavor which is nice. There’s a bready element along with light citrus, a bit of spiciness and clove, but overall, an easy drinking session beer that’s not overly complicated. Not bad stuff but nothing transcendental.

on tap at TH 20Aug2012, another quality low ABV beer from TH, nothing spectacular but a very solid hefe, listed at 5.5% on the menu, this nails the summer quench, with hints of clove and nanners.
