The name pretty much describes the beer. "Hefe" meaning "with yeast" and "weizen" meaning "wheat". Our version used approximately 60% wheat malt in addition to the 40% malted barley. The result is a light, slightly tart ale thatís hazy in appearance. The perfect beer to quench your summer thirst.

Distinctively banana aroma (cloves?) Dark, cloudy yellow, almost orange. Small, off-white head. Diminishing. Excellent lace. Doesnít have the big, billowy head that most German weissbiers have, but still very attractive. Once again, this could be due to being served in a plastic cup on the patio and not in a weissbier glass. Flavor is strongly banana with some apricot notes. Wow! Very well made. These guys never cease to amaze. Cooling. Definitely does not need the lemon. Canít get much better than this for a Hefe. Even has a light hop profile. Maybe this is a little over carbonated and has a small head. Otherwise, tough to find flaws.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2003 Light orange and cloudy. Aroma of citrus and banana. Flavor begins sweet with citrus, then finishes pleasantly sour. Refreshing, a really good white.

Tap: May í06. Looking at these ratings, not sure what is going on. Cloudy orange, decent head, lacks for a hefe though. Huge banana aroma, tons of clove. Flavor much the same, straight forward banana an dclove. Nice chewy/yeasty character near the finish. Carbonation lacks a bit, but overall a very nice brew.

Appearance: a very solid yellow, with a fine, sturdy white head. The tone is already being set here, for it perfectly hits all the right notes for a hefe weizen. Aroma: big fat lemon, and I wish the server might have asked whether I needed the addition of a slice of said fruit. Probably out of sheer habit, the way one would be foolish to NOT serve a Corona with lime. The masses like, I don't. She merely tossed it out, after I did. The lemon looms so large, that the slice is overkill. Spicy, sparkling, zesty, uplifting, fresh, perfect. Great weizen texture, too, lively play, decent hop showing, just-right malt spine. Creamy, tasty, refreshing, full-bodied. Sweet fruity flavors persist all the way down the pint, which was fully enjoyed. A bright shining example of a hefe weizen. I'll try to take in more of these while summer lasts, and make the most of it! Good job again, Town Hall!

Light gold with a head that lasted through the end of the sampler platter. Good nose, banana and loads of clove. Punchy sweetness in the flavor, lots of clove, very crisp. Full and sticky. Excellent.

Drinking right now at the release. Very hazy orange pour, little carbonation and plenty of banana and clove aroma. Flavor was great! Orange, clove, banana and good and pleasant funky yeast on the finish. A nice welcome to the summer beer season. Surprised this one isnít rated higher.

Super clouded thick, nearly opaque, bright peachy yellow color. Small whitish cap sits loose and frothy. Lacing in strings and spots. The color is remarkably unique to look at up to the light. It generates an awesome glow even though it comes across as being thick as paint. A marvelously picturesque color! Aroma has a pretty strong clove overlay which sits upon a steady wheat malt base with fresh lemon zip and slight banana. Flavors are fine, but I keep getting the clove as a cleaning agent. It gets in the way for me, I canít quite get a good hold of the banana and lemon, which is there, but the spice takes away from it for me. I let this sit for awhile to see if maybe the warmth would help subdue the clove spice, but nope. It pretty much stays level throughout. Feel is good, about right for a hefe, textured and fluffy carbonation, fizzy bits of sprite lemon zip and a whole bunch of clove spice everywhere within its medium body. Perhaps too much of the clove for me, I like more of the underlying hints then a smack up side the head with the clove stuff in hefes. More banana too. Still, this probably might be more likable then Iím leading to believe. Definately better in quality then most of the brewpub hefeís Iíve had locally.

Very hazy golden color with a thin white head. Smells faintly of banana and clove, bread yeast is in there too. A slight whiff of bubblegum. I taste a sweetness up front that is at the same time yeasty. Some spiciness and a bit of banana and citrus follow that. No bubblegum in the flavor. The mouthfeel is sharper and dryer than the aroma and flavor suggest.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy yellow with a touch of orange and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of clove with some sweet wheat and a bit of bread. Flavor has a nice combination of wheat and clove with a nice light earthiness.
