Tap at Town Hall, Feb. 2015. Listed at 10.4% Sweet ripe cherry nose, spice, bourbon barrel. Hazy reddish brown color. Ripe sweet fruity initial, goes lightly tangy with sour plums and more barrel. Goes a bit flat in mid and then picks up again right away. Some vanilla and spice behind it all. Thin-medium body. Very complex stuff. Could be a little more tart. Barrel notes are great. If bottled, this might develop very nicely.

Draft at brewery during barrel aged week 2015. Lovely nose. Cherries are immediately evident in the taste. Served very cold needed to warm up. No head or lace. Strong without being overly boozy. I'm not a huge fan of anything cherry flavored but this is solid.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy dark reddish brown pour with white head, aroma brought notes of banana, oak, toffee, vanilla, dark fruit with plum, slight honey with a hint of cherry, slight spice. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, toffee, nice oak with even a tart and tannic note, slight cherry, red berry, finishing with bourbon, whiskey, sweet. Pretty tasty.

On tap at brewery. Minneapolis. Pours dark brown with a hint of ruby, rich texture to the beer. small off white head. Nose is dark fruits and bourbon. It really does smoke like a heavily charred Manhattan. Barrel notes are heavy on this one, in an enjoyable way. Taste is mostly sweet, finish is fairly sour for me. Fairly heavy mouth feel. Body is medium-heavy. Pretty well executed.

On tap at town hall, pours a murky brown/Amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of oak and vanilla, caramel, and bourbon. Taste similar to aroma, sweet with a light creamy palate, light Belgian yeast spice, with some tart cherry on the edges. Nice!

Tap at TH. All the notes of a Manhattan. Cherries, vanilla and a heavy barrel giving a good booze presence without being overbearing. Delish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a grayish tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of barrel with some booze, dark fruits, dark grain and some bitter cherry. Flavor has bitter cherry and dark bread/dark fruits up front with a growing whiskey note through the finish.

Growler: Ruddy brown with a slight red tint, modest beige collar on top. Aroma of boozy bourbon, plums, Belgian yeast, Candi sugar, medicinal cherry sweetness, light spice, & some moderate caramely malt. Taste has a little bit of cocoa powder, kind of a darker malt presence overall. But not quite into stout/porter territory. Cherries are not as medicinal on the palate, which is good. Sweet up front with a light tartness. Hint of caramel & bourbon with a little roast in the finish. Moderately tannic & woody aftertaste.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Hazy dark golden color with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes gradually. Strings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, yeast and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, cherry and yeast. The finish is oaky with a cherry and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
