Growler: Ruddy brown with a slight red tint, modest beige collar on top. Aroma of boozy bourbon, plums, Belgian yeast, Candi sugar, medicinal cherry sweetness, light spice, & some moderate caramely malt. Taste has a little bit of cocoa powder, kind of a darker malt presence overall. But not quite into stout/porter territory. Cherries are not as medicinal on the palate, which is good. Sweet up front with a light tartness. Hint of caramel & bourbon with a little roast in the finish. Moderately tannic & woody aftertaste.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Hazy dark golden color with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes gradually. Strings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, yeast and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, cherry and yeast. The finish is oaky with a cherry and bourbon aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tap at Town Hall barrel-aged beer week. Pours a hazy gold with reddish tint. Taste is initially yeast, some tart cherries come in after. The bourbon doesn’t provide much, maybe dried it out bit? Pretty solid, too boozy.

12 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub during Barrel-Aged Week / Grand Reopening Week. Listed as “Town Hall Manhattan Reserve,” but the description here matches well to the beer that Town Hall poured for me. The bartender said that the ABV had not been tested but they were estimating it at 11 to 12%. Pours a hazy, opaque, reddish ruby / amber with a pinkish beige head. Excellent and unusual appearance. Floral, yeasty, Belgian aroma features scents of both tart and candied / maraschino cherries. Also vanilla and caramel scents. Smells great. Quite sweet taste features raisin, plum, and candy sugar elements as well as caramel and toffee. There is some cherry tartness as well as lemon sourness in the finish. The beer is notably sweeter than it should be, and the flavor doesn’t hold up to the smell. Medium to full body. Fizzy and lively in the palate. Ultimately disappointing after a very strong start but a good beer nonetheless. 9/5/6/3/13=>3.6

UPDATED: APR 17, 2014 Pour at Winterfest 2014 - Light brown pour, very little head. Big boozy nose, bourbon and slight cherry. Hot bourbon fades to sweet malt and then cherry in the finish with some wood character as well. Really nice! Edit 4/17/2014 - enjoying a full glass at Town Hall during their Barrel Aged Week. Enjoying this immensely. Hazy red amber pour. Tons of cherries. Perfect amount of bourbon and oak. Really wonderful.

Growler, aged 4mo. Smells like funky, dark-cherries and green grapes. Pours a very cloudy, amber color. Tastes medium sweet, lightly tart, and lightly sour. Flavors of sweet cherries, grapefruit, green grapes, rye, and Belgian yeast.

Growler shared thanks to GatorGuy92. Cheers, Matt! Pours a hazy brown with an off-tan head. Nose is some sugar, sweet malt, some cherries, some bourbon, and some booze. Flavor is similar with notes of a great Manhattan: cherries, bourbon, oak, sugar, sweetness, some fruit, and just awesomeness. Medium to full in body and nicely delicious.

Growler shared by Matt at the weekly tasting, poured an orangish amber color with aromas of bourbon, light vanilla, some tart cherries and some sweetness. Flavors followed suit, mostly tart cherries, and bourbon. Thanks Matt for sharing this, what an amazing beer.
