Draft. Creamy tan head atop cola black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chococoffee, some roast, light cream. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, coffee/roast, light earthy. Creamy light-medium body.

Porters are my favorite style, but this one didn’t bring it. Very meh, not a lot going on here, a bit too sweet and not complex enough. Way too much milk, not enough porter.

Growler. Dark black pour, a little wispy head and an aroma of slight sweet chocolate and high end roasted coffee. Flavor was nice roasty dark malt, hints of sweet vanilla and a little nutty on the aftertaste. Really nice and well priced at $9/growler.

On cask at Town Hall Brewery - nice dark brown pour with a fluffy tan head. Nose has a little sweetness to it (lactose / milk?). All of a sudden this pint has just disappeared. Easy to drink, easy on the pallet with a nice bitter chocolate aftertaste. Nice beer!

On tap at the brewery, big chocolate aromas and some nice lactose, almost brownie like. Taste is some bakers chocolate and a nice creamy/lactose flavor finishes it out.

Tap at Town Hall Tap. Very dark pour with reddish highlights - doesn’t look too dense. White head. Sweet lactose aroma. Lactose taste, mild bitterness, mild coffee. Solid brew.

Traditional porter recipe, with a twist: the caramel malt is replaced by lactose.
I had some at the pub, and took home a growler to take notes and enjoy. Here’s what I wrote:
Thoroughly black at the top, more reddish brown below. slim white layer of foam.
Aroma of cocoa and cream.
Taste: moderate carbonation. Sweetness abounds, very smooth, lack of bitterness. The lactose which supplanted the usual caramel malt dominates the flavor. "
I finished the growler like nothing, and found these notes lacking. The notes sat on the desktop, waiting for further appraisal. Another growler went down the hatch, and realized no further notes were needed. Sometimes simple is good.

Black and a fairly thick beer. Lactose in the aroma and the flavor, and I’m not really into lactose. Mild roasted grain in the aroma as well, flavor has the lactose and roasted malt with just a little coffee and chocolate.

RB Bachelor Pub Crawl. Black color with a medium head. Slight lactose aroma. Plenty more where that came from in the flavor. A little roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Not flashy, but easy drinking.
