detroiter (957), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Feb 14, 2007 Ruby Mild pours a clear and brilliant ruby-amber color with half an inch of light tan foam. It really catches the light when you hold it up - a friend called it ’very pretty,’ and so I will agree with her. This beer has exceptional lacing throughout the pint - among the best I have ever experienced. There is a mild fruitiness to the aroma.
Ruby is mild indeed, but still flavorful. I taste a sweetish malt that I can’t exactly call caramel, but don’t know what else to call it. Maybe a sweet toasted malt. It also has a mild fruitiness to it. There is a mild hop presence in the finish.
Ruby has a lightish body, soft carbonation, and is very smooth and oh so drinkable. This stuff is splendid on cask, I will have to wait a couple days to see how it tastes on tap. I guess I don’t really care what style it is, just keep serving it on cask!
JK (2479), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Feb 19, 2005 Very little aroma at all; some hops. Light red. Thin palate. Definitely mild with no flavors that really stand out, besides the Town Hall house flavor that many of their beers have. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 17, 2005 Very slight hint of hop aroma (though I may be imagining this), Clean head with medium lacing. Body like a watery cream ale (if this makes sense). Somewhat greasy mouthfeel. Mild indeed, but a decent session ale. ElGaucho (1721), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 17, 2005 Not much in the way of aroma; can’t make out any hops. Ruby in color, which makes sense. At first I thought for sure I tasted Amarillo hops, as there were some similarities between this brew and TH’s Hop It, but a review of the commercial description, which I forgot to bring home (dagnabit) revealed that it contains English Nobles. Very thin body. This might please the woosies, although I’m not sure why. I’ll have to frankly say that this is one of my least favorite offerings from Town Hall, and there is a distinct possibility that my ratings are a little inflated due to a syndrome I now refer to as "the Town Hall bias." robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Feb 15, 2005 Dark Red Coloring with Good Thick Head. Grassy Aroma and Bad Grains Taste...Tasted Like Bad Stale Leftovers....MILDLY Worth Tossing Your Glass to Get the Wee Heavy Instead.
