On tap at GTMW 11. Rich toasty roasty aroma. Malts chocolate and rich. Rich chocolate flavors. Sweet bourbon chocolate. A little sweet but good. I enjoyed this one. 8/4/8/3/15

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
GTMW 2011. Poured a dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt aroma. Solid bittersweet toasted dark chocolate malt flavor with a solid bittersweet finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I am updating a very backed up beer pad dating back a whole year. This was, as I noted, my favorite beer of GABF 2010. I wrote, "the baddest beer on the planet. Nuts and earth the whole way! dark chocolate taste, berries everywhere. So awesome. Roast, caramel, vanilla, burnt, BOOM!" As you can tell I was excited and can’t wait to drink this one again.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
awesome stone growler... light black body, shiny... the nose is too light, a bit of chocolate, nice just not enough going on... the flavor is also on the lighter side but great, light chocolate, watery chocolate not a milky note, easy to drink, can’t believe this is 9%... really good and worth trying

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at GTMW. Pours to a pitch black body with a dark brown head. The aroma was quite nice with lots of chocolate syrup, chocolate powder, coffee, and rich roasted malts. The flavor was absurdly chocolatey and roasted. Very heavy beer all around. The palate was thick and syrupy. Was a nice beer, but a bit too much at an outdoors festival.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub. Poured pitch black with a thick dark brown head that dissipated completely, but laced nice and thick. Aroma was an amazing combination of dark chocolate and raisins with a bit of roasted malts. Flavor was just as great with dark/deep chocolate, raisins, and some roasted malt in the finish. Mouthfeel was extremely thick and sticky, giving an illusion of ’chewiness.’

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Sampled at GABF! OMFG! This very well could be the most chocolate-infused beer I’ve ever had. Take a bar of Godiva chocolate, dip it in Hershey’s syrup, and dust it with Nestle Quik...ya might be close! Liquid coal pour produced a dark latte head that left significant lacing inside the glass. Aroma was intense bitter chocolate, vanilla, caramel, molasses, and dark fruit. Sweet but not overly so. Nice bitter ending to polish it off. Silky smooth mouthfeel...another world-class brew!!! BUMP!!!

Draft. Pours black with a very small, brown head. Sweet, roasty aroma of malt and chocolate. Rich flavors with smooth chocolate, roasted malt, and hints of coffee, nuts, caramel, and alcohol. Creamy, heavy body with no carbonation. Delicious.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Pitch black with faint brown head in a ring around the glass. Oxidation and soy on the aroma - and not int he good way that I enjoy in Meph and other aged stouts. Faint faint chocolate in the body but horrid soy and stale malts. Undrinkable. The only time I’ve asked to return a glass at Town Hall.
