Tap at brewery. Aroma is woody fruit and bourbon with apple and bourbon flavor. Pretty boozy but quite nice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with billowy white head. Aroma is an awesome Christmas tree sap and needles. Really unique and interesting considering the style. Taste is smooth caramel, some vanilla, malt, sugar. Overall, this bottle wasnít infected as some have suspected. Aroma was the best part but was unique to the style. Didnít really taste the barrel.

Draft at Town Hall, left over from Barrel Aged Week 2013. Pours a murky., dark amber color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is boozy, whiskey, floral. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, boozy, whiskey, some caramel sweetness, a hint of wheat in there, some floral hops, with a malty, boozy finish. This beer did not stand up well to the barrel. Not terrible, but lots of barrel.

Bottle, tasted 04/20/2012, thanks to chewy08rx. Pours dull brown, burnt copper, frothy off-white head, fades to creamy glaze over the surface, fine lacing. Aroma largely barrel dominated: oak, big coconut, vanilla and sweet toffee, dark grain bread, and subtle, slightly tart apple for a crisp ending. Taste is sweet coconut bread, caramel and light fruitiness, pleasant spicy bourbon finish. Medium thick palate, but smooth, alcohol well hidden. Bold, rich flavors here, but not many complexities beyond the barrel influence, but still enjoyable.

2012 bomber - thin copper pour with razor thin head and no retention. Let the glass warm up to about 55 degrees. Wonderful nose of maple, vanilla, wood, sweet malt and caramel. Taste follows the nose with a tad of bitterness. No oxidation to speak of. Typical thinner mouthfeel given the wheat malt but this is a very good BA wheatwine that I have yet to find a rival for. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Huge bourbon notes from this beer. I was not expecting this beer to be what it was. Wonderful amounts of toffee and caramel that follow suit with the bourbon. Wish I hadnít dropped my other bottle of this on my way out, HUGE waste...

Nose is really nice - honey, a bit flowery, some whiskey. Taste isnít quite as nice as the nose. Feel and taste are a bit thin. Bourbon, honey malt, some bourbon. Excellent, but not quite as nice as the buffalo bock.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 On tap at the February 23rd release at Town Hall in a 10 oz. goblet. Pour is a light, breezy orange/yellow hybrid, very still & quiet. Nose is a slipdash of bourbon, mild sweetness. Tumaltuous Rare is in rarefied company during the barrel-aged week & doesnít quite live up to its storied brethren of years past. Big bundle of sweet malts, distant caramel, & a big dose of barrel sum this one up; it does get better as it warms, simple but tasty. As with every beer this week, though, ridiculously easy to sip. Clearly in the minority of homers around the bar (they all found it orgasmic), I found this to be a good, solid effort; love to see more barrel-aged wheatwines in the future. Good beer.
