Big thanks to BA supercolter for sending this my way. 750 ml waxed dipped bottle served in a Half Acre snifter. 2012 Vintage. A: Pours a dark sienna brown color with some ruby highlights. A thin tan head forms on the pour and leaves some splotchy lace behind. S: Fruity with a sweet Jack Daniels backing. Peaty with a sweet toffee presence and some brown sugar as well. T: Caramel goodness with a smokey and peaty underlay. Jack with some dark fruit flavors and a touch of toasted malts. M: Meidum bodied with a medium carbonation level. Sweet finish with a nice drinkability. O: The wasn’t quite on the level of some of the other BA Scotch Ales, but it was a very nice beer and I’m glad we didn’t have any issues of infection. 750ml bottle that I feel very lucky to try! A vigorous pour creates a light brown fluffy head atop the darkest of amber bases. Aroma is fairly muted but has some nice caramel and red berry notes, with slight hints of bourbon coming through. Quite thick, almost creamy mouthfeel with caramel, wood, dark and red fruit, and a nice warming whiskey finish to cap it all off. A great beer for a winter’s night.

The beer appears a dark burgundy color with a small head. The aroma is fairly sweet, with some dark fruit presence along with a sturdy malt bill. A tad sweet. Notes of brown sugar and bourbon. Medium bodied with moderately low carbonation. Overall, this was decent.

Served in a Town Hall cervoise. Pretty oaky and a bit oxidized. Some sweetness and heavy malt character. Medium body with a bit of alcohol.

Bottle shared with friends, poured a nice dark amber color, aromas of vanilla, jack daniels, toasted malt, and some caramel. Flavors were a blend of the aromas, with a slightly over powering sweet/jack daniels aftertaste, a nice beer over all.

This one poured a murky darker red with a beige head. Aroma was a good bit of Jack Daniels, some some lighter caramel and toffee and peated malt. Flavor was a bit sweet, and astringent, good broubon notes, and not too sweet.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 On tap at SPSBF. Pours a clear deep amber brown and a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a really nice combination of barrel, dark fruit, sweet grains and caramel. Flavor has a great matching of dark fruit, caramel and dark grain with the barrel coming out in the finish.

750 vintage 2012 bottle poured a brown in color with an off white head. Aroma has malts, caramel, toffee, light wood, and some sweet jack. Mouth feel is medium and there is medium low carbonation. Flavor has a fair bit of sweetness, malt, light oxidation, dark fruit, jack, and some wet wood. There is definitely that unmistakable jack aroma and flavor.

Bottle… WPB Town Hall Meeting 2012… Pours clear, deep and dark with mahogany highlights and a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. Great retention. The aroma is a luxuriant swirl of Jack Daniels, toasted malts, toffee, caramel and straight-up sourmash distiller’s beer. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is caramely and malty; minerally and gently acidic. Tangy sourmash finish with plenty of warming whiskey and a gentle kiss of buttery toffee. Big-time kudos to landhoney and newcigarz for making this meeting possible!
