Bottle… WPB Town Hall Meeting 2012… Pours clear, deep and dark with mahogany highlights and a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. Great retention. The aroma is a luxuriant swirl of Jack Daniels, toasted malts, toffee, caramel and straight-up sourmash distiller’s beer. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is caramely and malty; minerally and gently acidic. Tangy sourmash finish with plenty of warming whiskey and a gentle kiss of buttery toffee. Big-time kudos to landhoney and newcigarz for making this meeting possible!

Bottle. Pours darkest brown with tan head. Nose/taste of caramel toffee, smoked malts, biscuit malt, whiskey barrel, oak and vanilla. Smooth, velvety mouth feel. Medium body.

Pours clear amber brown with almost no head, light and white in color. You smell the sweet barleywine style matls and straight up whiskey barrel. The flavor is light, sweet malts with the Jack Daniels showcasing clearly on a clean body.

Draft at Town Hall. Pours clear brown/black with a ruby hue. Thin off-white head, poor lacing. Nose is rich bourbon, raisin, smoke, red licorice, light yeast hanging around in the background here too. Flavours of tart red berries, oak, vanilla, sarsaparilla, tea, cola. Toasted coconut finish. Just a lovely beer!

Nice dark color with a little smoke and a lot of bourbon/whiskey in the smell. I tasted a good amount of bourbon and just a hint of sweetness followed by smoke. This is a very nice barrel aged scotch ale

Tap at Town Hall. Extremely dark brown / borderline black pour with a nice thin white head. Aroma is boozy and light fruit. Taste is whiskey, fruity, and a touch of caramel. Great brew!

600th rating! On tap at brew pub pours murky brown/amber with a thin khaki head. Aroma of caramel muted whiskey and oak. Taste is a little bland bitter caramel, oak and really only a slight whiskey presence. Easy drinking but not as defined flavors.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 On tap at the February 21st release at Town Hall in a 10 oz. goblet. Very dark red bleeding into brown, spare carbonation. Nose is thin, bit of bourbon & sweet malts, not much else. Wee Jack doesn’t live up to night #1 (weizenbock) but I’m not about to give it away. Sweet caramel malts mingle with the vanilla & bourbon from the barrel, along with the typical drying character in the finish. Slightly acidic, almost tannic, which brings this one down for me; this is something that might get more pronounced as it ages, which wouldn’t be a good event. One & done for me, which is very unusual for Town Hall & my stomach. Mildly disappointed in this one just because of the source (a great brewpub) combined with a style I really like, & it just didn’t rise abve the pack. Good, solid beer, but I’m looking forward to the others more.

Tap. Dark brown pour, little ring of carbonation and a nice aroma of delicious Jack Daniels. Flavor is a nice balance of slightly Scottish ale and more JD, thin on the body and very dry & woody on the aftertaste. Well done, another enjoyable Town Hall beer.
