From growler. Mild fruity and dark roasted malty aroma. Fruity, bitter, dark malty and slight acidic fruity. Bitter, acidic and dry malty. Bitter and roasted malty finish.

Growler shared on the RBSG bus trip. Pours brown with an off white head. Sweet malty aroma, with whiskey, toffee, and plum. The flavor has whiskey and malty sweetness, oak, and dark fruits. Good stuff.

Hazy brown color/ fleeting head. Sweet caramel, vanilla, nutty, spicy aromas. Same flavors as in the nose with sweet caramel vanilla, mild smoke, nuts--good.

Poured into a pint glass. Big thanks to BCGabbo for this. 3.5 A: Deep deep amber mahogany color. About one finger of frothy near white head that falls quickly and leaves just a couple small islands of lacing. 3.5 S: The nose is pretty subtle for the style. Thereís only a mild caramel and toffee character with sweet dark fruits (plum, raisin, fig) accompanying. Malts are lightly bready and perhaps a touch grainy. The Jack is barely detectable. I might have not even noticed it had I not had a priori knowledge. Thereís a decent vanilla component, the the oak and especially the whiskey is barely there. The aroma doesnít really open up much as this warms. Itís just straight up weak, but pleasant. 3.0 T: The taste is more of the same - weak, but pleasant. The caramel and toffee are again much weaker than the style dictates. There are a light plum, light raisin, and even lighter prune components. The Jack comes through a bit stronger in the taste, but that is mainly due to the weakness of everything else. Vanillins and oak are present in moderate amounts and the actual whiskey lends a boozy melon flavor. 3.0 M: This might be the most disappointing part of this brew. I usually associate the style with rich and creamy mouthfeels, but this is nowhere near that. Lighter medium, borderline light body. Good moderate carbonation. Needs to be creamier. Super easy going down though. 3.0 D: I must say Iím thoroughly disappointed. This smells, tastes, and feels like a Wee Heavy Light. Light on the carmelized malts, light on the dark fruits, and light on the body. I was expecting much better given the quality of the other Town Hall beers Iíve had. Brown pour. Aroma of vanilla, oak, caramel malt and certainly some JD! Flavor has a distinct JD feel to it with vanilla, caramel, light peat and good sweet JD! Hell yeah.

Growler shared by t0rin0. Pours a very dark brown with a small white head. A sweet nose of toasted malts, some dark fruit and noticeable Jack Daniels sour mash. The flavor is not dominated by Jack but has lots of whiskey in it for sure, some sweet fruit, caramel, lots of rich malts. I liked this a lot. Warm but still quite drinkable.

A: This one pours a dark amber, perhaps copper, color with a minimal off-white head. S: Incredibly sweet and fruity. I donít get a ton of the barrel/spirit character out of this one, but itís good. Apples, pears, and golden raisins all seem to be there as well as a bit of honey and toffee. T: Sweet caramel and brown sugar with a fairly strong alcohol character. Touches of vanilla and charred barrel, too. Nice and fruity with some apples (and apple juice) and golden raisins, mild spices and peat, too. M: The body is medium with the carbonation being on the low end of medium. D: Much too heavy on the fruit and apple juice qualities.

Tap. Deep brown in color with a small whitish ring around the outside. Sweet aroma with vanilla, caramel, some fruitiness, and just a touch of booze. Really great tasting beer if you like them sweet. Vanilla, oak, caramel flavors. Slight bit of nail polish comes out as this one warms a bit.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2012 Draft. Poured into a tulip glass a clear, dark cola like brown color with a slight off white head that recedes to form a slight collar arond the glass. Minimal lace. The aroma is pretty clean and subdued, no overpowering jack daniels notes that blow you away but a more subdued sweet aroma of oak, jack daniels, dark fruit, and slight smoke. Medium mouthfeel. Slightly sweet flavors gives way to aformentioned slight smokiness and a smooth, drawn out flavor of JD. Warming effect from the alcohol but not really all that overpowering either. I think the beauty in this one is that it is so smooth and well incorporated. I would have liked to see a little bolder flavor and nose though.
