COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Loads of pungent, piney, citrusey hops give Tin Hat IPA a strong bitterness that is balanced with a malty body. Pair with strong flavours: curry, smoked meat, Gorgonzola cheese

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy, dark amber, with a dirty off-white head. Aroma of grassy hops, butter, pine. Taste of toffee caramel, light to medium sweet, medium bitter. Soft carbonation, bitter, slightly metallic finish. Overall a decent beer, quite the thirst quencher. More of a British style IPA with high bitterness.

Bottle, shared at the lake with Parksy, May long weekend. Very dark old-penny copper colour. Sweet caramel dominates the nose and the palate, with Del Monte fruit cocktail fruit character. Very little bitterness. A lightweight IPA to say the least; more an amber in my opinion.

Dark amber...wow this is one the darkest IPAs I have seen. Aroma has a lot of lychee, with light amounts of orange zest, canned pears, spruce and maybe a dash of Special B. A fair bit of deep crystal chewiness, with a touch of earthy, resiny and slightly orangey hop. I’d call this is an imperial amber - nothing "pale" about this, but a good beer if you know what to expect.

bulldogops (1039) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 7, 2014
Rating #995 - February 18, 2014 - $7.29 CAD for a 650ml bomber from Coop. Clear golden amber pour with a weak, white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong with pine/lemon overtones. Taste is more of the same, dry hops and cakey malts dominating the flavour. Very much an english style PA but still very tasty.

Bottle. Hazy dark orange-amber with a good sized rocky head. Aroma starts with a good hit of caramel malt and candied orange peel, followed by a slightly soapy floral note and some mellow pine. Flavour is well balanced, with substantial caramel malt playing well with hops that start with sweet citrus and end with a lingering pine resin & grapefruit juice bitterness. Not a completely typical North American IPA - it’s a bit darker, a bit lower in alcohol, and is more balanced than the usual - but all of those (especially the last two) play to the beer’s advantage, and make it quite sessionable.

Somewhat bitter but well balanced, pours well, looks nice, aroma is somewhat restrained but pleasant. Paired well with richer foods.

650ml brown bottle. 5.6% abv on the label. Hazy amber in the glass. Small white head on top that fades to a ring. Decent rings of lace. Nose has a caramel base, then some hops - orangey, a little spice and some leafy notes. Taste has caramel malts, citrusy and pine hops with a bit of spice. Piney aftertaste, bitterness is moderate. Body is light, mild carbonation. A bit malt heavy but not too bad.
