jake65 (1274), Meridian, Idaho, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle: Murky, middleweight brown pour with a large, foamy tan head. Thick lacing. Roasty and bittersweet cocoa aroma with hoppy hints up front. Taste maintains the good hop presence with a chocolate and malty smooth finish. I like the crisp hoppy, yet smooth chocolately finish here. Nice little hoppy porter.
kevin62 (253), New Jersey, USA Oct 12, 2008 Had this one on draft.Poured a nice black/brown with a brown head.Aroma is roasted malt, light coffee and chocolate.Obviously, those aromas were present in the flavor as well some light hops.Very drinkable and delicious porter from Troegs. GreatLibations (1299), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Oct 10, 2008 Brew pours dark, brew pours cold, brew pours with no head, thanks hellbilly. Aromas of chocolate and roasted coffee bean. Medium nectar with ample residual effers. Bitter cocoa, leather, molasses, tree bark, roasted coffee bean, citrus rind. The finish is bittered beyond expectations. Hops up front fighting back the malt backbone. Deliciously drinkable despite it’s heavy handed disposition. Excellent! Rogueone (372), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 From the first sip, I knew it was way too hoppy to be a porter. Overwhelming citrus and floral hops completely overpowers any roasted qualities I was looking forward to. I assume a lot of IPA people might love this beer, but I was a bit disappointed by it. douglas88 (820), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to Thaichile. Pours black with a nice large brown head, looks great! The aroma is full of roasted malts, chocolate and hops. The flavor is initially sweet, but quickly a lot of bitter hops and chocolates step in, and the finish is mostly hops. Finally it leaves your palate with an earthy malt. Very unique take on a great style, and very nice. A great mouthfeel; rich and creamy. verymerrymonk (212), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 4, 2008 Pour is a black body with a thick tan head. Very dry initially with bitter chocolate and coffee. A unique approach to the porter style as it is more bitter than the run of the mill interpretation.
