merlin48 (349), Henderson, Kentucky, USA Mar 2, 2007 Clear, amber orange body topped by a small almond hued head that has good retention and nice lacing. Hop aromas of grapefruit, orange, and pinecone dominate. Medium body with good carbonation. Taste is a delicious blend of soft caramel malt and assertive fruity hops. Ruby red grapefruit, mostly, with notes of cut hay, pine, and orange. Subtle malt presence suggests clover honey. Excellent!
Mr_Stitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a tight off white head that leave thick lacing rings down the glass. Aroma is piney, citrusy hops, mixed with the faintest hints of caramel malts. Taste is very much the same as the smell tons of hops, but the malt comes much more into play here giving the beer a nice even taste that works well. Mouthfeel is sticky and thick. A very enjoyable beer to drink. NomDeBeer (150), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 31, 2008 Clear light amber color, small white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is floral hops and pine needles. Flavor has a sticky caramel and sap-like sweetness, plus citrus hops. Great body and palate. Not as bitter as I expected, very smooth finish. AmEricanbrew (924), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 28, 2008 Clear amber with a viscous tan head, nice lacing. Great aroma is spruce sap, wet kona bud sweet leaf. Medium body with a creamy soft mouthfeel. Big bittersweet hop oil, sappy, sticky sweet spruce, with citrusy orange riding an awesome, sweet caramel amber ale base. Imperial Amber Ale indeed, and a regular in my fridg. Zinister (877), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 27, 2008 Updated: Aug 29, 2008Much thanks to MaltOMeal for this beer!
Pours a rich orange amber color with a small white head. Awesome pine and floral hop nose. Flavor is very hoppy with some tropical flavors (mango, pineapple) as well as floral, peach and ending with a bit of pine. Malts are there enough to give this beer some weight....and a great mouthfeel. I love this beer and would drink it daily if I could get it. CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 23, 2008 (Bottle) Thanks to Goldorak for sharing. Pours a lasting thin foamy white head and a orange amber. Nose of solid pine hops. Decent malt, good tart hops with fresh leafy base. Very fun.
