unclemike (364), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 1, 2008 Clear amber-brown body with a fading, sudsy beige head. Sweet warm caramel and toffee aroma. Flavor has notes of caramel, light fruit, and chocolate with a subtle edge of roast in the finish. Medium sweet and pleasant. A nice brown ale and another solid beer from Tröegs Naka (423), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2008 Pours a very dark brown color with a small light beige fizzy head that disappears quickly. The aroma is kind of like a hazelnut latte. A roasty coffee with some definite sweetness. The flavor is pretty much the same. It has some coffee, brown sugar... almost like something from the Nutty Bavarian. The body is kind of light, but overall, it is a good traditional brown ale without feeling it necessary to completely over-hop it. fredandboboflo (617), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 21, 2008 Bottle, bottled 5/13/08. Aroma of roasted malt with coffee, fresh, fertile earth (very unique stuff), peanut butter. Flavor has a nice sweetness typical of brown ales, but richer and with more prominent hints of bitterness, rather porter-like to me. Unique brew, tasty brew, good brew. LilBeerDoctor (623), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle, bottled 5/13/08. Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of nice sweet malts, molasses, roasted malts, coffee, maple syrup, and sweat? Flavor of sweet roasted malt. Palate is a little weak. Similar to a porter or even a stout actually. I’m normally not a fan of brown ales but this one was pretty good. Troegs is awesome... Steinface (77), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2008 A good brown ale, quite a "bit nutty". pleasant in the mouth, goes down easy. Very nice
