gpekar (117), USA Jul 6, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 2008 Poured a dark brown cola color with some orange/red highlights at the edges of the glass. There was a 1" tan head that disappated about 1/2 way through the glass. There was nice lacing while the head remand. There was a mild nutty aroma and some sweetness. There was a good nutty flavor and a slightly dry finish. Hints of chocolate were detected in the aroma and flavor as I was drinking through the glass. At only 4.4% ABV this is a good beer to have over & over. From a variety pack
LilBeerDoctor (442), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle, bottled 5/13/08. Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head. Aroma of nice sweet malts, molasses, roasted malts, coffee, maple syrup, and sweat? Flavor of sweet roasted malt. Palate is a little weak. Similar to a porter or even a stout actually. I’m normally not a fan of brown ales but this one was pretty good. Troegs is awesome... Steinface (63), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2008 A good brown ale, quite a "bit nutty". pleasant in the mouth, goes down easy. Very nice Soonah (480), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 15, 2008 The pour was a dark brown with ruby highlights that was crystal clear. The head was white to off-white and produced decent lacing. The aroma was roasted malt and light dry chocolate with some lighter sweetness to it. The flavor was dominated by roasted malt. Light dry chocolate and caramel sweetness. Fairly dry, thin mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Nice. smjohnst (111), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2008 This is a really good freakin beer. Its a nut brown but it has such a unique flavor to it. They advertise a small hint of chocolate and they are spot on, it really adds to this beer. smaynard6000 (46), New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 16, 2008 Very dark pour with a small beige head. Very nutty caramel flavor to this one. Medium body that leaves a sweet flavor in the mouth. A nice brown ale.
