Commercial Description:
Enjoy this as a token of our appreciation. With the demise of Tröegs Oatmeal Stout, this long-forgotten recipe serves as an inspiration and a heartfelt thanks to our faithful stout fans.

What’s special here? We start with a seductive malty sweetness, combine it with hints of chocolate and roasted flavors and round out the texture and taste with a healthy helping of oats. A three-hop blend brings perfect balance to the sweet malt adding a dry finish to this big beer.

Bottle sampled. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and fruit. The flavor is sweet, chcolate, fruit, roasted malts, coffee, and mild bitterness to the finish. Good brew.

Bottle thanks to hopdog. I really thought this was a BW after tasting it, and I really enjoyed it. Pours a dark mahogany color with a thin beige head. The aroma is full of berries, sweet chocolate and brown sugar. The flavor is balanced and excellent; a smooth and crisp fruity aspect, mostly raspberries and strawberries, a sweet chocolate and brown sugar, some roasted malts and a smooth body. No way this is 9.6%. It is so easygoing and tasty, there is a ton of warmth that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed this brew, fruity and sweet, but really balanced out by a strong hop presence that leaves a bitterness in the finish. Very damn good.

12oz bottle from MrBendo. Aroma: Sweet roasted malt with notes of chocolate, caramel, grain, and raisins. Appearance: Dark, dark brown in color with no highlights. Light tan head was full and creamy with great retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Sweet roasted malt hits first with notes of chocolate and coffee. Raisins, smoke, caramel. Flavor peters out into the finish and leaves a weird ashy astringency. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Light alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: This looked awesome, smelled good, but tasted....meh. Flavors don’t build and just end up falling flat.

Bottle thanks to hopdog. Dark brown pour with good sized brown head. Roasted malt and sugar on the nose. Flavor was much the same with hints of chocolate and light roasted coffee. Body was not as thick as it looks.

Dark clear brown with a light brown head. Nose of toffee, mocha and fresh cereal. Flavor is sweet up front with notes of caramel, a tinge of burnt roastiness/hoppy resinousness, mocha and a detectable alcohol presence. Full, round and creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall, tasty stuff.

A nice imperial stout. At first sip I thought it was a barley wine but as it warmed the stoutness came out. Aroma was kind of weak. Chocolate with a hint of dark fruit. Pour was a murky dark brown with no head and little movement. Taste was very different. Strong sweet chocolate, bitter malt aftertaste and this wierd fruitiness in the aftertaste. The hops bitter this in the end and leave the mouth dry. Another interesting Scratch beer.
